POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by Deleted on Jan 6, 2018 23:22:54 GMT 1, Only on this forum could a dodgy ‘blacked up’ colour variant, that’s long since been forgotten, by an artist who’s failed to do anything of note for at least five years, be talked about as ‘ highly sought after’. *shrugs* As it happened for every art group/ art movement, the number of artists in POW roster that will be artistically remembered as historically relevant in twenty years can be counted on one hand. IMHO Nick Walker is not among them. Most of the money paid on many prints nowadays will be never got back. PS: obviously this is not the point in collecting art... Walker’s definitely “one of them”. In recent years his output has been ropey but he’s still from an era of Bristolian artists that have had a huge influence on the scene we now follow.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by tab1 on Jan 7, 2018 0:46:37 GMT 1, Only on this forum could a dodgy ‘blacked up’ colour variant, that’s long since been forgotten, by an artist who’s failed to do anything of note for at least five years, be talked about as ‘ highly sought after’. *shrugs* I think it's a psychological thing. When something is in limited numbers it just raises the amount of people that want it. The game right now isn't really about the art it's moreso about how limited it is and how much it can be flipped for. Knowing you may never be able to get something again (even if you don't like it) can play on someone's mind. It's a brilliant strategy by POW though. This is how you stay relevant and keep people interested. They're probably laughing their arses off watching people squirm for prints that were ignored for 5-10 years only to now be "sought after". I'm guilty myself. I've seen prints sit for ages on certain sights thinking "I'll grab it later" only to get angry when I see it finally sold out. Granted, these are prints that I actually like and want to frame. I figure there are a % of people like that. Just not many. TLDR: Agreed.
Limited these days keep on getting increased on each next new release ,as soon as an artist gets a whiff of exposure the 20-50 limited editions jump to 200-600 and then multiples of test press , artist proofs ,printers proofs and editions kept for damaged prints to be released onto the market at a later date , that takes the fun out of collecting so called limited prints. Think a lot of new trade / buyers visiting pow and buying with the old crowd.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by chevyav53 on Jan 7, 2018 1:06:21 GMT 1, I know some excited people watching this thread just be careful not to quickly hit he links being posted. Not sure what security checks are in place, a guardian can comment.
But if I were a hacker I’d be looking for threads such as this where excitement is high for unposted artists. I’d creat a phishing site that looks exactly like POW then steal your money & information. Just an FYI

You release a print at $250 only to see it flipped for $1250 days later, I'm sure you'd want a piece of the action too.
It's so much like the sneaker game right when it got ridiculously hot.

Instead of a catalogue, can you imagine if they had held back maybe 3-5 prints of every release they have ever put out and sold a "Full Collection" as a blow out product before they shut down?
How amazing would that be?
