POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by Deleted on Jan 24, 2018 20:12:32 GMT 1, So I got the last of my POW orders today, which arrived with an unexpected bonus tube, containing a print I never ordered. It's one I really like, hadn't seen pop up on their site over the last few months, and would have vaulted merrily to the top of my short print queue. Indeed, I posted here a couple of days ago asking if anyone had anything to offer by this very artist, so it was all extremely serendipitous. I was delighted, but as I slid it into my portfolio something was nagging darkly on my conscience. So I emailed them to say thanks for my splendid gift, but that for the sake of my sanity I had to check that it didn't actually belong to somebody else. They swiftly responded to say that it was all a horrible mistake and that I have to send it back otherwise they'll be really, really angry. I offered to buy it, but that only seemed to make them angrier. It was, they said, the property of the artist, so I suggested that I could contact the artist to ask if I can buy it. This made them utterly furious in a somewhat threatening way. I fear POW and I have fallen out of love over this. Now I have it, I like it, I want to keep it, but I'm not allowed to. This is upsetting. I have learned a valuable lesson about honesty, namely that it isn't always the best policy, no matter what your mother told you. In conclusion, if anyone has a copy of Vhils' Nothing Lasts Forever in their flat file, please drop me a line. Ah man, what a ball buster. I'd probably have just assumed it was a little gift. But maybe Karma will treat you well in return What is the image of?ย
Had the same sort of experience recently else where with 2 prints being sent instead of one and did the right thing sending one back thinking it was someone else's even paid the postage and not much of a thank you from the artist with being my 1st print from them and karma definetly repaid me the good deed. You done the right thing mate and something good will come of it, when it does let us know :-)

Are you the guy who sent the email to pest control regarding the Bristol museum posters?

Darwin awards are for idiots. He has been instead a very decent and intelligent person - well done loother.
With more people thinking that this is exactly the right way to behave, and acting accordingly, we would all live much better.
Hence, whoever thinks that he was an idiot is actually the one that deserves a Darwin Award - sorry.

It boils down to a moral question you have to ask yourself more than the forum but was in a similar situation when i got a spanky iphone sent to me with my name and address on. Personally, i have a bit more respect for POW than Tesco Mobile.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by fuzzed on Jan 24, 2018 22:22:23 GMT 1, Possibly my last post on this thread as I've lost track of what's going on now, but I was just thinking and... ironically, the POW closing sale and hype has genuinely re-ignited my interest in buying art. The majority of the prints I've bought are on the walls, the rest are in a folio, but it's been a while as I've been spending money on other interests. I've still be taking photos of street art, which is where this interest stems from.
My first print was from POW and that's how I got into this whole "urban art" malarky! Good times!

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by bert on Jan 25, 2018 11:00:11 GMT 1, Bye bye POW, I'll miss you.
Thinking back to stuff I have bought over the years, or the various pop up events that I bumbled along to, it makes brings a warm smile to my face. They've always felt like the shop most directly related to this scene and I admire that they never lost that connection, even when their output wasn't the most prolific. They did a lot for the artists and fans and will be fondly remembered.

โThey swiftly responded to say that it was all a horrible mistake and that I have to send it back otherwise they'll be really, really angry. I offered to buy it, but that only seemed to make them angrier. It was, they said, the property of the artist, so I suggested that I could contact the artist to ask if I can buy it. This made them utterly furious in a somewhat threatening wayโ

Perhaps I'm missing something, but offering to buy something that has been sent in error is something to be commended imo. Lots of people would have just kept it.
Unless there's more to the story, POW should be grateful.

POW CLOSING DOWN - SALE ENDS 31ST DECEMBER 2017, by moron on Jan 25, 2018 19:46:10 GMT 1, So I got the last of my POW orders today, which arrived with an unexpected bonus tube, containing a print I never ordered. Their mistake and you don't have to send it back under certain circumstances. I would have told them no problems just send someone round to collect it. Then if they got angry or really angry with me I would have told them to fuck off.

I'd definitely disagree with your assessment about honesty. Always best to be honest and you'll be a better version of yourself for continuing that pattern. People with the best mindsets live the best lives, money and fancy prints be damned ๐
Anyone see that Netflix documentary on happiness? Doesn't surprise me that people in more impoverished nations rank higher on the overall happiness scale than people living in America
