Personally the best "story" would be it's the OG graffiti artist from Bristol on his last warning with the police decides to create Banksy and that would be Robert Del Naja. I think that would be legendary.
I think Banksy is a team but there's a very good chance Del Naja did that piece in particular. So that would just work out nicely that he is the one pictured and becomes the face of Banksy.
And yes, I own a stack of Del Naja work...(not like it matters)

what is interesting and integrating in Banksy, is not really to see a pic of the man himself but all the โโfaces โ ( and names ) that he has got.
Per example, to see a face does not mean nothing. You can easily find Space Invader portrait and real name , on the web, google pics etc .. and so what ? Nothing !
What would be great to know in Banksy is to know all the secrecy, who have done this or that , when ? etc ... Not to see the eternal pics of Robin Gunningham/Banks, in real life. We all know that Banksy is a brand, and that most all the artworks before to be called โ Banksy โ have to get a validation, a stamp or a confirmation by Jo.
In fact Banksy story is fascinating , early years were not the same that now. Not the the same men but a man too. Some left, others came, actually we could easily say that we have around more than 20 โ Banksy โ ... And the role of Paul Insect is more important that you can imagine per example. Cmon Rob lets go on your bike ๐ and make another tattoos on the walls ! As Zorro .
( one thing is sure : Banksy will never die, as legends ( he is already one anyway ) , myths or ... series : some are already working on the next episode )!

The reveal was a painting that was draped over and had two security guards stood at its side until the end of the evening. Turned out to be a large painting of a monkey with spray cans but hidden in the picture was a small picture of what is believed to be Robin Gunningham from the pictures released in the Daily Mail.
He was slated by many artists at the time and produced a set of postcards (still have a set) quoting the artists that publicly condemned what he was doing. I was there as I knew other artists that had work in the show and I myself had a piece in the gallery at the time.

Unfortunately we can neither confirm or deny this at this stage, though it is revealed in the book

At age 11-12, he was doing cartoons, like most that age. He met 3D in that exact window, from what he's said. And... here's all the proof I need, in his last magazine entry, it's not a cartoon by RG, it's a concept. And more importantly, look at the top of the image, It's f'ng spray paint. The end of RG as the world knows, and Banksy is born, and this is the image that proves it for me. Quite amazing to see the "flip of the switch" in these images regarding an 11 year old, and a 13 year old "thinking"

No one is on the Gunningham boat anymore. At least not with their money.
