Not sure thats the case. I was there and bought last week and gaffa tape was still on mine
I thought they did that so you could possibly display with the sections apart.. but have probably got that stupidly wrong

But that is only what I have seen in person. It probably varies.

Been there in December, got a taped one. Friend of mine got a glued one in December as well, they were both up for sale at the same moment.
