Best archival sleeves for storing prints , by workandturn on Nov 11, 2017 18:53:51 GMT 1, Ive got a Hush print that I recently purchased that I can't afford to frame right now so want to store it flat as it comes in a tube. Went to Dick Blick to buy an arrival sleeve to put it in but there open at the top so didn't like them as Im worried about dust getting in.
Where's the best place to order from and what make do you recommend ?
Also for storage is in best just to use some cardboard or should I buy a portfolio to keep it (and hopefully others) in ?

The Alvin sleeves look more rigid with the inboard sleeve at I'm going to try them unless they're more costly. Thanks for the info Pipes and Csideguy.

Best archival sleeves for storing prints , by iamzero on Nov 23, 2017 18:04:45 GMT 1, Just had an interesting conversation with the art guy at Mapac who’s A1 sized sleeves I’ve always used. They now make two sorts, the Jet sleeves that are 80 micron and are archival quality made from polypropylene I think he said and the Professional sleeve which is 150 microns and made from an inert PVC but they have not listed them as archival.
The thicker ones I’ve always used but the guy has now suggested I use the thinner Jet sleeves for long term storage.
Jacksons art supplies have the 150 micron one’s described as archival quality but this does appear to be true after my talk with the Mapac dude. Anyone have an opinion on these thinner sleeves for storage?

I’ve a feeling the guy I spoke to told me the Jet sleeves were Polyester. The reason they don’t make them them thicker is due to the loss of clarity.
