Sepia tone is a type of digital photo in which the picture appears similar to a traditional black-and-white print toned with sepia. It appears in shades of brown, as opposed to grayscale.

Yep, the LA version of Morons had the frame in gold. Looks a lot better, IMO... But the POW version of Trolley Hunters will likely be more colorful than the LA version (if it ever gets released, that is), so I guess that evens things out a bit...

Hmm... I never even noticed that the numbers were greenish until you mentioned it! I've only caught a glimpse of the LA version at Barely Legal, so I'm afraid I didn't notice the numbers. The most salient feature was the gold frame, which I thought was a simple but elegant touch (even the original painting didn't have it in gold).
Perhaps someone with an LA morons would enlighten us?

I actually wondered whether he had changed the number to reflect the Southebys sale.

Just checked my Barely Legal pics - from the original canvas painting, those numbers weren't really decipherable digits at all... looked like some random shapes, almost like martian writing or chicken scratch or something. I think you may be right - those numbers may have been added to the POW version after all! Great eye!! ;D

I wonder the same thing - but then don't you think it become Eelus-like? Do people think this is getting like Obey prints - people acting like sheep and just buying no matter what? I'm more interested if Banksy plans on doing anymore street work, or what he has in store for his next gallery exhibition.

I think it not only maximizes their profits, but more importantly, makes it (slightly) easier for the fans to get their hands on one. Sure, it becomes more eelus-like with 1,362 color variations on the same image, but I certainly wouldn't mind it if it means that I stand a greater chance of getting a print from my favorite artist on my wall.... for me, at least
I realize that for many people the increased overall edition size is less than desirable and makes them feel much less exclusive, but let's face facts... Banksy's popularity has become insane, and you'll be lucky to even have one. At this time, exclusivity has gone to people with the big bucks (to buy originals and such), and that's just the way it is. Which would you describe yourself as, a fan of Banksy, or a fan of having exclusive stuff? Unfortunately, circumstances no longer allow you to be both unless you have ££££.
