Banksy Morons Print, by paginationnation on Apr 12, 2007 11:52:13 GMT 1, I got an email from Dora yesterday, she said that they are processing them all this week. It is likely I will get mine by the end of next week... It's bound to take some time - POW having to send out 1000 odd prints is going to take some time!!

Before you know it you'll be making regular visits to your framer, pondering over profiles, mount board colours and textures, and even types of glass, then you'll really know you're hooked! ;D

Personally, whenever I receive a print, I do not necessarily have the money to get them framed right away. So I store them flat until I do... and when it's time to get them framed, I usually just carry the print to the framer without a tube, i.e., flat. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Gotta be done.. ;D

I know what you mean, I'm very impatient too! But if you're skint, there's nothing your impatience can do! ;D
I think it's perfectly alright for the ones that freshly arrived from POW to head straight from the tube to the framers, 'cos they've only been in the tube for a few days and will straighten up easily enough.
I don't know if it's just me, but I've noticed that if you frame a print that has been coiled up in a tube for a long time, it'll start rippling. Happened to a couple of my prints that I bought off eBay, which the previous owners have left in the tube since the day of purchase. Wonder if that had anything to do with the rippling. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

You may be right there as i have recently had a problem with my Applause and that is back at the framers under what was referred to as the Heavy Weight. Having said that i had no where to flatten out such a huge print anyway. ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

Agreed. I bought Girl Tokyo from a guy that had kept it coiled since purchase and have had one hell of a job getting it flat.

Banksy Morons Print, by stuey09 on Apr 12, 2007 23:27:06 GMT 1, Yep. It concerns me, but not too sure what to do. It still looks awesome in its frame to be fair, but my eye keeps getting drawn to the 'curves' that just shouldn't be there. It was at the gallery for 4 weeks being flattened, so in fairness I don't think there was much more that they could have done. I guess the moral is to keep the prints flat - particularly the scalping brigade who are holding onto their prints until they see fit to cash in.

It's so painful, isn't it? It happened to my Napalm and Jack & Jill. I'm thinking of bringing it back to my framer to have it remounted... I talked to my framer about it and he keeps saying it's because of poor paper quality. He even suggested that I get glued on to the back mount (dunno the technical term)!! Sacrilege!!! But I don't wanna bring it to another framer and spend more money fixing it, especially if it's gonna keep happening! Ugh. Dilemma. ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)

Banksy Morons Print, by stuey09 on Apr 12, 2007 23:37:34 GMT 1, Difficult to say, but I'd estimate that mine had been coiled for at least 6 months. It's on 300gsm somerset velvet paper, which is quite heavy duty to be left rolled for a long period of time. Basically the guy I bought from didn't understand what he was doing. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)

When I had a similar problem I actually roolled it the "other" way and put it back in the tube for a day... following that I then put it in an art folder flat for a week and the 'undulations' on my Jack & Jill disappeared.
Be VERY careful rolling iside oout though and try and just just it flat if you can ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

I'm gonna need to take it out of the frame to do that... but I'm afraid to do it myself - remember your Love is in the Air disaster, Mr. lesroy? Haha!
(P/S. Thanks for replying to my PM - you've lost 10 points in my book )

Banksy Morons Print, by dkla on Apr 13, 2007 0:09:48 GMT 1, For those that are saying some prints that have been rolled in the tube for a long time are rippling when framed...are your using mats/mounts in the frame or are you trying to float mount them? Reason I ask is this thread is making me nervous - I've got many prints I've been waiting to frame until I move into a bigger place -- some of the prints (a la signed CND Soldiers) have been waiting since purchase -- over a year. God help me if I have a rippling problem with any of them. I'm so close to moving now that I'd rather not take any of them out of the tubes to store them -- may as well just leave them where they are for a couple more weeks than risk denting them. Please somebody tell me that they've had prints in tubes for long periods and the prints have turned out fine. ![:-/](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/undecided.png)

For me, they I used mats/mounts. And they're still rippled. I'm very upset about that The only prints I've float mounted were my LA prints (Trolley Hunters and Festival), and they've remained in pristine condition ever since they were framed (Since last September). The prints that got all ripply started doing so practically a day after I collected them from the framer.
Don't mean to scare you buddy, but I'd really advise you to try to find a way to straighten out your prints for a period of time before you frame them. Good luck with the new place, and be sure to post pics after you've gotten them all framed up and hung up! ![:D](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/grin.png)

Banksy Morons Print, by senna on Apr 13, 2007 0:46:55 GMT 1, was-sup AB?
I'm really sorry to say that there is nothing any of us can do Vis-à-vis the ripple in a framed paper print. The more colour/paint, the worse it can be.
personally, every print i own regardless of size is flat the minute i get it. but this actually has very little if any affect on whether a print will ripple when framed or not.
they are printed on paper; paper is organic containing moisture.it loses that mosture over time irregularly.
you get the picture. short of getting them re-pressed every now & then...thats the way it is.
f**kin gets on my nerves too ![>:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/angry.png)
my 20p's worth ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)
Yep.

Hello there cure for constipation Senna! ![:P](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/tongue.png)
How the hell have you been man?? Great to hear from ya!!!
So your prints are getting ripply too? Man, that really sucks... how do they do it in the museums - do they simply get them repressed routinely?
Well at least there's a bit of good news - it's got nothing to do with keeping prints rolled up in a tube for a long time (although you still shouldn't do it, there's plenty other reasons for that!).
So annoying and tragic, though ![:(](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/sad.png)
