In 2008 they started to bring those tires back up - because the tires dissolve in the ocean and became toxic to the environment...

Ultimately military used removing tires for wartime salvedge and training excersizes -Was cheapest way to try and remove some of the 2million tires -some dude in 70โs thought he was brilliant I bet
