It's been that way for a while, but it doesn't turn me off. It's all cyclical. It happened with Shep and you can see that it's allowed him to pursue other interests and styles, and his art has evolved positively thanks to the opportunity that the base has created.

I always wish for nothing but success with stellar artists. KAWS has really taken his art up a notch, and I am sure he'll get tired of playing the corporate angle in a few years when he financially can be at ease. I look forward to seeing the progression and where his next period will put him.

that's how I see it as well, if a majority of your collector base does it because it's currently the trendy/cool thing to do, not sure how sustainable that is, especially considering that this type of crowd tends to switch from one trend to another... I do get that Kaws has been involved with the streetwear scene for quite some time but for some reason the following felt more genuine back then

I had to google fratbros and hypebeasts. They really do exist. Air Nikes and designer shit. They are welcome to Kaws. His art is bland uninteresting based on slight re working of cartoon caracters etc. basic shit thats easily marketed to people who mistake it for intelligent design.
