Banksy Laugh Now Print, by punkdaisy on Apr 6, 2006 11:03:05 GMT 1, I don't see how this makes the J & J's a good buy. First the 'laff now' is part of the artist's early work. The early work is always going to be more collected and desirable, quite often this work is taken by true fans and seldom surfaces on the market, when did you last see a signed Churchill for sale? There have been signed J & J's on ebay non-stop since they were published. It was produced in a much higher limitation and the silk-screening quality is actually much poorer on this print. The very fact that J & J's are selling for ยฃ300-ยฃ400 makes the 'Laff Now' at ยฃ1200 a good buy.

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by monochrome on Apr 6, 2006 12:12:47 GMT 1, I agree - the rarity of some prints has to be taken into consideration.
I think anything after CND\J&J will appear in abundence on eBay - the market has been saturated by people buying multiple prints, plus the runs have been greater ie. 350 signed as opposed to 150 or in case of the Rats, just 75 (to me these represent a great deal).
I'm so confused why the J&Js are still going for ยฃ300 - there are so many on eBay - do people not realise this over sell?
The only way around this, is for POW to stop releasing single prints - the next release has to see them release 4 or 5 prints. That way, the 'chancers' would have to layout ยฃ150 x5 x2 which not a lot of people can do therefore giving more of a chance for everyone else.
I loved the idea of the Soup Cans - and how long did it take for these to sell out?
So POW - if you read. please don't release single Banksy prints anymore - do multiples and allow everyone a chance of buying a print and retaining a value against that print.

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by punkdaisy on Apr 6, 2006 14:45:53 GMT 1, The point with the J & J's is that you have a lot of new collector's appearing and this is the only print for sale, thus you have a bouyant market as people clamber to get what is available. Many of these prints were purchased by people intending to re-sale at a profit, so although sold out at the publisher's they are available for sale on the second-hand market. This is not the case with the earlier prints and secondly you have the higher print run so of course there are going to be more available. You also have to look at the actual piece, say most of these are being bought by 25-35 year old's, in 10 -15 years time when you are 35-50 you probably aint going to be so comfortable having Jack and Jill on your wall as say Bombing Middle England. So again in the future there are going to be more Jack and Jill's for sale. Take any major artist the early work is in most cases much more desirable and fetches a hell of a lot more. In 20 years the chap who bought the 'Laff now' will be all the way to the bank. The point I was trying to make, is if you think J and J is a good buy at ยฃ300-ยฃ400 then think again, it doesn't matter if Pow release mutiple prints or no more prints in the future, what you need to buy is the SIGNED early pieces. If Jack and Jill is a good buy at ยฃ300 then Laff now is a screaming bargain at ยฃ1200.

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by AoT Framing on Apr 19, 2006 17:27:55 GMT 1, Phew, those comments make me feel so much better. It was me who bought the print! I deliberated for days whilst bidding on this and lost a lot of sleep in the process. Eventually it was down to me and one other bidder who was an American. My logic was that I didn't want the print to leave the uk and i didn't want it to go to a bidder who'd recently bought a "journey" album (boring mor band from the 80's) I have no intention of reselling this print and absolutely love this image. I'd never seen a signed one before and realised this might have been my last chance to buy one before the prices went even higher. ( tomtom, lazinc etc) Luckily for the first time in years I had the cash to purchase it. I'm now retiring from bidding on ebay as I have all my favourite banksy's - Barcode, Golf Sale, CND, J&J, Get Out, Girl Balloon, Napalm. Unbelievably I was offered Laugh Now when it came out from Art Republic a couple of years ago, but didn't have the ยฃ75. This year I've cancelled a holiday....to buy a monkey print, i must be insane!

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by BK83 on Nov 10, 2006 18:17:45 GMT 1, I think a year or two from now you will find that prices of these pieces will flatline. not saying they wont be collectors items because they are, have and always will be, but there is no way that these prints can keep increasing in value at the current rate -- resale is like 300% instantly on almost any print. Banksy is having a moment right now -- lets see where we are at in year or two years -- (hey maybe it will take three), but before long his stuff will definately flatline and thats when I intend to pounce!!!

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by RBK on Nov 10, 2006 18:47:32 GMT 1, I agree. There will be a correction at some point - no question. I can't name one artist that has done nothing but increase in price. I'm definitely of the school that unsigned prints are currently over-valued, and signed are under-valued.

I dont know at the end of the day pieces on ebay only sell for what people are willing to pay. We have more and more people finding out about Banksy so the prices are going up! If you cant afford a signed piece for say ยฃ2,000-3,000 then an unsigned one for around ยฃ1,000 is the only option. This means that more people are fightin over the unsigned pieces than the signed ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Think it is more that they typical buyer can't afford the signed prices, so there is the bumfight for the 'cheaper' option of the unsigned ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png)

Banksy Laugh Now Print, by RBK on May 18, 2008 19:19:56 GMT 1, Honestly... it's just for a bit of fun, hopefully recoup a bit, and some good marketing for [a href="WWW.FYCGALLERY.COM"]WWW.FYCGALLERY.COM[/a]
Scary thing is - aside from the paper being thin, the print is an excellent and dead-on reproduction.
All I can say is that things are in the works to get the original fraudster - whom when caught I will fly over and give a nice American-style beating (and yes craigf, it may include a pistol-whipping)!

They're more likely to pull the auction because of the links to the site in it I'd think
