Banksy Applause Print, by manchestermike on Nov 21, 2006 10:10:42 GMT 1, Very good question... I can see where they're coming from.
The way new houses are built these days I have to heavilly plug (i.e. ruin) the walls in order to hold smaller works up, I'd be more worried that if it fell it'd take half the wall with it!

Banksy Applause Print, by HowAboutNo on Nov 21, 2006 10:12:18 GMT 1, Hope someone can help I need some advice about framing the applause print? I went to a very well regards framing store I have used before and handed them applause and said I wanted " the very best" I was surprised they suggest for a print this size and for safety I should consider a more expensive option of using perspex instead of glass. For the reasons that if it came off the wall - not unlikely in my house on a big night or if moving that the glass would probably damage the print if it shattered. Is perspex going to look different if done right??
Could the very well "regards" framer not tell you this? Surely he/she would have been best placed to, seeing as it's their job? There are one or two people that pop up on here who know their oats with regards to framing, but the rest is going to be pure guesswork. Am sure if they are well regarded, its more expensive, and they have suggested it that it will be pretty much the same? Why not ask to see a sample of a similar sized piece of perspex maybe?? I have only ever really seen cheap grade stuff that you would get in a hardware place - I guess what you are worried about is the "rainbow" effect you get with it, but am sure that won't be the case with picture perspex.

Banksy Applause Print, by m@san on Nov 18, 2006 15:46:57 GMT 1, Can anyone tell me the difference between the LA Applause listed here www.smauctions.com/b.htm and the POW Applause released on Thursday. It's very confusing ! Are there 2 sets of these prints with the same numbering?
Are there actually a further 650 ' printed in L.A. by Modern Multiples with Banksy’s stamp of POW and Modern multiples stamp' ?

Banksy Applause Print, by trowel on Nov 18, 2006 16:11:31 GMT 1, The LA run and the POW run for each of the six new prints aggregates to 650 prints in total: officially 100 unsigned prints were sold in LA, plus 150 signed and 400 unsigned sold via POW.
The signed series is numbered separately to the unsigned, as with all other signed Banksy runs, ie. signed are #1/150, unsigned are #1/500.
I think some confusion stems from POW saying there are 500 unsigned, but 100 of these have already been sold at LA - if not more.
General consensus is that #51-150 of the unsigned series were sold to the public at the LA show with #1-50 held back for private sale to friends/family, and the rest sold via POW. However in practice it's probably a little different as I ended up with Applause #153/500 from the LA show.
But hey, they're all pretty pictures at the end of the day

I think you might have gotten a 'leftover' from the 'private sale to friends/family' reserve. Heard it with my own 2 ears when I was at the LA show. The blonde lady specifically said to the people in line: "First 50 goes to the artist, so your numbers will start from 51".
But we know that print distribution has never been an exact science, so anything's possible, I guess

After each print was sold, that lady behind the counter made a mark on her list to keep track of the numbers... y'know, like this: |||| |||| |||... and so on.
When I went back to the show on the last day (yes, I'm obsessed, crazy, and have too much time on my hands), I took a peek in her office and saw the list, and counted that in actuality, less than 100 of each print were sold. Closest was Applause, which sold around 93-95. The others stopped at around 80-85. Don't know what's up with that.
But anyway, my point is, less than 100 of each were actually sold during the show.

None of the prints sold in LA were signed nor stamped, just numbered (roughly between 50-150). This does not include "special" ones such as printers proofs.

Anybody else find this?
I'll be emailing POW now to find out what this means, but it's quite worrying...
