Banksy Applause Print, by numusic on Nov 26, 2006 14:05:55 GMT 1, Just opened my Applause up to look at it for the first time prior to getting it framed, and I notice that it's neither stamped nor numbered. Anybody else find this? I'll be emailing POW now to find out what this means, but it's quite worrying...
Human error I guess, hopefully it's the only one
Silks earlier claim may have some truth in it

Hi rklimek! ;D No joy over here in Los Angeles. I wonder if they do all their shipping by country. I don't know of any American members who have received theirs already... yet. I thought the delay was due to Thanksgiving, but perhaps not. If that's the case, then does POW number the prints according to where they were sent out instead of time of purchase? Hmmm.

Actually, it's a rare mistake for POW, but it doesn't make the print a rare one Instead, it makes it a rogue one, and will never be worth as much as a numbered & stamped one simply because nobody except for static will know that it's not a back door copy.
static: I'm sure POW will fix this for you with no problems. It might just take a little time, simply because they're probably busy with the Ghetto and stuff... but I wouldn't worry too much if I were you

I'm fairly sure this wil be recified shortly, just a worrying situation if POW are -- even accidentally -- sending out unnumbered pieces. Does that mean I'm outside the original edition of 650?
Anyway, awaiting message from Steph to see what happens. Good thing I'm in London - if needs be I can pop up there with print.

Well, POW is afterall run by human beings, and errors are inevitable here and there. However, with the records that they keep, I think it's quite unlikely that anyone would find themselves outside the original editions. This is because they keep track of what numbers went to who, so when you contact them, they can easily look their database up and go, "Oh yeah, you were supposed to have number XYZ, let's fix that". If they do it that way, then nobody else will have your number, and they won't have to worry about there being two XYZs out there.
Otherwise, people with backdoor copies could go there and claim that they bought it from them but received an unstamped & unnumbered one, and it would be impossible to prove either way.
There was one incident (that I know of) where there were two prints with the same number in existence. One of the owners contacted POW, and they realized that they had skipped a number while issuing, which resulted in a duplicate number (e.g., 232, 233, 235, 235, 236... etc.). The guy brought the print there, they shredded it, and gave him a brand new one with the correct number that wasn't in use. I think it was a "Girl with Red Balloon".
But anyway, my long-winded point is, with the record-keeping system that they have, it's difficult for huge screw-ups to occur And even if they make a few boo-boos here and there, it's usually easily rectifiable if the customer catches it in time. Unfortunately, if the unnumbered & unstamped print had been sold to someone else whose name wasn't in the POW database, then the buyer would have been stuck with a rogue print.

Sure am
Someone made a post saying that they're not done printing and sending the prints out, though... so we're probably in that batch. It took them about 2 and a half weeks for Grannies, so there's still some time to go. I keep checking my bank account to see if they're refunded anything, but nothing so far, which is a good thing

Well, nothing has hit the shores of Norway yet.. would give it the mandatory 28 days, then worry.

ahhh, a common problem for us all..take the caps off, hold it over a duvet or something soft, shake hard, until it moves down far enough for you to reach, wear cotton gloves, or very clean dry hands, reach in, and try and gently wind the print in on itself and lift gently winding in as you go.. should do the trick.

Banksy Applause Print, by joe on Dec 4, 2006 14:12:55 GMT 1, Yes i know what you mean. I couldn't get my print out of the tube and was so concerned that i would rip it that i have settled on staring longingly into the 'black hole', deciding to wait until i take it to the framers.
Sad i know.
I'm also enjoying looking at how others have framed their print, i just can't decide (or currently afford it).

You still haven't gotten yours yet?? Has it been 28 days? You should probably contact POW, but with the Ghetto going on and all, I figure they'll take quite a while to respond Do keep us posted, alright?
