So when they decided to take the site offline, EXACTLY 350 unsigned prints and 150 unsigned prints were sold?

Banksy Applause Print, by gordy on Nov 16, 2006 21:10:37 GMT 1, I think they should sell the remaining prints at santas ghetto!!! imagine sleeping outside for days just to get a print ;D ;D
That would really prove who the real fans are!!!!!!!!!!!! ;D ;D
You could tell your grandchildren the great tale of how you slept outside of a shop in London for a week like a hobo for a f-kin print ;D ;D
It's got to be more interesting than looking at a screen for weeks and then wanting to smash your pc for about four hours!!

I was gonna do that too. I was going to refresh that page just one more time and then go back to bed... but the "add" buttons suddenly appeared, and I had checked out in less than 60 seconds from that point. I thought my order was totally bogus, and I would get an email for sure (not The Phone Call since I live in a totally different time zone).

Banksy Applause Print, by trowel on Nov 16, 2006 23:17:10 GMT 1, I guess once POW saw people getting through the backdoor into the secure site they decided it was easiest to let them sell out that way, than trying to release them en masse again. Not particularly fair I agree, but after the day POW must have had you can see why they appear to have gone with the flow.
If anyone wants an Applause, I'll have at least one unsigned up for swaps - I now have one from LA and one from POW (acquired via the proper channels at 1:50pm!). I'll try to get a good photo of my LA print up somewhere to give you an idea of how feckin colossal the thing is - this aint no rat Edit: see banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=general&thread=1156923785&page=7#1163718417
I am however very keen on getting a signed Applause if any of you lucky beggars are still reading this thread!!

I mean of course that I'd ideally like to end up with just the one Applause with a Banksy shaped squiggle, with the unsigned prints going off to good homes

It doesn't, they rebooted the site, you had to to go straight into the basket, only stayed up for maybe 15-20 mins. Didnt work on refresh, you has to empty cache. Depended on your browser I guess.

Banksy Applause Print, by trowel on Nov 17, 2006 0:46:27 GMT 1, Although POW took down the usual http links, they seem to have forgotten to take down the links through their secure server (https) which is where you're redirected once you get into the checking out stage. When you're at the ordering stage you can still go back to the art pages to add more items to your basket, however you'll still be on the https address. This is how I got my print earlier in the day.
I expect POW will change this

Banksy Applause Print, by pedro on Nov 17, 2006 1:20:56 GMT 1, Its late and sleep is on the cards....
it certainly is.
I don't know why people are dissing the so-called 'backdoor' method. Those of us that are unlucky enough to work by a computer have all had the pow site on constantly for months (and especially the last three weeks); we've all refreshed at regular intervals (i think my gap between just before it went on sale at about 12.18 today and when i checked pow at about 12.45 is ironically my longest in three weeks) and we all sat there for four hours looking at various different messages, all of which were basically saying "our system is fucked". Then they said they had stopped selling and someone put a message on here saying that you could still buy, some of us followed the link and were (hopefully) lucky enough to get one.
At the end of the day, if someone is a regular on this site (whether a poster or not) they are more likely than not to be a genuine banksy fan and if info on this site helps them, then i think it's a good thing.
Clearly, it's a shame if someone like silky (hi, btw) doesn't get one but ffs, pow know who he his - surely they could sort him out with one.
Anyway, rant over. Time for bed.

They make it sound like drug dealing or contract killing (HI, NU! ;D) or something. It's really not 'illegal' or 'backhanded' at all, is it? Isn't it the equivalent of when Grannies came up and some people still managed to add the item to their baskets even when it read "Sold Out"? It's the same thing - if you're desperate enough (especially with a 3-week build-up of desperation), you're gonna try every single door that is available to you in that scenario... it's human nature. If other people posted the "Site is down" message on here, but your browser still had the "Add" buttons available, would you say "Nah, I'm not even gonna try" and close your browser instead of giving one last try, even out of desperation? I should think not
