Banksy Applause Print, by scoobywilldoo on Nov 17, 2006 13:12:18 GMT 1, Cheers Silky for finding out.
I had the same problems as most of you in getting through with add buttons not responding and baskets being emptied. A few Grey hairs sprung up yesterday as I was continually trying for 51/2 hours. About to give up and one final try at 5:24 gave me a result.
Cheers Silky for finding out.

It may be down to your choice of browser... just a theory but i think Internet Explorer would be the worst choice of the day...

Banksy Applause Print, by Jonny Breaks on Nov 17, 2006 14:06:12 GMT 1, think it was just pot luck...mate of mine got his at 3.50 using Safari...i was using Firefox and Explorer but couldnt get anywhere near the final check out.
heard that a few people in the "know" were ready and waiting and still had problems as the site crashed pretty much straight away....so all in all a total lottery!

Banksy Applause Print, by Curley on Nov 17, 2006 14:21:18 GMT 1, Ordered at 12.23 and here this morning. Blinding.
I think there maybe a ready made frame at Habitat, similar to one i posted with the Grannies on the get your banksy's out thread. They make one thats 100x 70 but with the extra space around the edge for the clear border (approx 10cm, making it 110x80). So i am hoping it will fit. Off there with the measurements and tape measure in minute. will report back.

POW say about 60 a second. At work we get a breakdown of web activity each month, would be interesting if POW published their data! Not that I am suggesting they should but it would make interesting reading!

More surprisingly it probably means that there are folks out there who do have a print who aren't registered or haven't posted about yesterday's five and a half hours of absolute mayhem!

Banksy Applause Print, by Jonny Breaks on Nov 17, 2006 17:58:29 GMT 1, certainly not the first 500 orders...more likely the first 500 completed orders....dont think many were completed during the first few hours due to site meltdown.

Banksy Applause Print, by Jonny Breaks on Nov 17, 2006 18:25:49 GMT 1, It says it took 500 orders before kneeling over..... I'm not so sure myself !!?!?!?
my personal idea (and thats all it is) is that the their site processed orders all day at extremely slow pace, it got to about 4.30pm (home time) so they shut the site down only to see orders come streaming through the backdoor, they then put the site back up with the Applause prints showing for it then to sell out within 5 mins.
so all in all the computer took 500 orders albiet in a very random way...certainly not the first 500 orders.

Actually it was just around 350 orders (for unsigned ones), so it's not as hard to imagine them selling out within such a short time frame. When they first put the "Due to unprecendented demand..." page (I still don't get how in the world it could have been unprecendented), they said something along the lines of "We'll figure out how to sell the remaining prints later". Then a few minutes later, they shut down the site completely, and they took the "We'll figure out how to sell" message away. So perhaps they were close to selling 350 when they decided to take it off, and subsequently figured that they were much closer to the limit when they did. The trickling so-called 'back door' orders just took the game home.
Feels as though this 'disaster investigation' should be on CNN or something. ;D
