Banksy Applause Print, by redfred on Sept 10, 2008 18:49:07 GMT 1, Cheers Graham, but its still a lottery regarding how long it takes, and if I had sold at that price I wouldnt be too happy waiting around for payment, I think if its a reliable seller you just need to take the risk, I cant see somebody going to the trouble of forging something as big as Applause for £650

Uh oh....may not be all bad though. That price is a good one! Too good to be true? Let us know how you get on (and good luck with it).
Lovely print btw. it's massive too!

Banksy Applause Print, by nickodey on Sept 10, 2008 19:53:11 GMT 1, All questions regarding provenance and ownership should have been asked first. Only when you were 100% happy with with answers you got you should commit to buy. There is nothing more annoying than when you sell something and then buyer starts asking things they should have asked first. The new feedback system on ebay does not help in this situation! If you were were not happy with his feedback do not bid!!!!

Banksy Applause Print, by redfred on Sept 10, 2008 20:06:56 GMT 1, Try ringing Dora with the sellers details and explain the situation, ask her if she can check to see if the details match the regestered owner and confirm over the phone. Only done it by e-mail myself but its worth a try!

Banksy Applause Print, by jnschicago on Sept 10, 2008 20:08:01 GMT 1, Why does this board have so many righteous people on it?
I just made a purchase on eBay. Everything looks good. I have every intention of paying the seller. I'm simply looking for tips from experienced buyers to ensure that I'm buying genuine art.
As I've already said, officially confirming prov (i.e. meeting at POW or emailing Dora) before making a bid is simply not practical for anyone involved. Dora would be receiving dozens of emails about the exact same piece of art. That's silly. But thanks for your 2 cents nickodey.

Banksy Applause Print, by viperuk on Sept 10, 2008 20:08:14 GMT 1, I disputed a print through ebay when the seller failed to send through the receipt/prov etc and then went on holiday, I raised a dispute and the money was taken from the seller. They soon sent the requested details and by this time I had taken the print to pow to get checked out. When all was received I closed the dispute and all was good.

Banksy Applause Print, by snakes on Sept 10, 2008 20:18:32 GMT 1, Very best option would be to get the seller to agree to meet at POW, getting it checked and then completing the transaction Good luck
As a seller i would tell them to fuck right off unless they were to pay my expenses and for my time. As the original buyer of the print from source what more prov could they want?

If they are zero rated and it did turn out to be dodgy you will be covered to about £150 of the value of the print

If you use your credit card rather than bank account your cc company will reimburse you 100% in the case of fraud.
Re Dora I am still waiting for a reply re a print I emailed her during the auction and have subsequently received it with its original receipt!

You can pay using paypal, but have it charge your credit card rather than draw the cash from your bank account directly so the answer is lots! ;D

Banksy Applause Print, by jnschicago on Sept 18, 2008 19:53:02 GMT 1, Can someone please explain how Applause was originally released? Some were signed, some were not. Some were sold at Santas Ghetto, some were sold online, some were sold in LA, etc. I'm a bit confused. Help?

Banksy Applause Print, by icky on Sept 18, 2008 20:50:41 GMT 1, Let's see if I can get this right.
First 100 unsigned (#51-150 or something like that) were released at Barely Legal in LA sept '06.
These were printed in LA and differ in contrast and detail from the rest of the Applause edition. (banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=2006applause&action=display&thread=14889)
There were also 6 (?) sets of all LA prints (Morons, Applause, Grannies, Capitalism, Sale Ends Today, Trollies) released outside the edition as printers proof (in LA).
Then POW released the rest (400 unsigned + 150 signed for a total edition = 500+150=650) in nov '06. None were released at the Ghetto '06 to my knowledge.
The above info also applies for the rest of the original LA prints except for the POW release dates and details.
The LA editions differed more or less between the US / UK editions. These are the bigger differences: Grannies: slightly different shade of pink Morons: picture frame in gold (LA) vs auction numbers in green (pow) Trollies: cream background and club (LA) vs tomahawk (pow) (banksyforum.proboards82.com/index.cgi?board=2006trolleyhunters&action=display&thread=17429)
Sale Ends & Capitalism still remain to be released by POW.
Morons Sepia and Trolleys Colour were only released by POW and are not part of the same editions as the above.
Oops, this grew a bit from what you asked, sorry!

Is that not always the case. Top stakeholders get a crack at the first few of the run. Think its a great idea for hard work done. Must be a right hassle smoking all that hash at the POW office. I jest. Top print and god I wish I could have made the show.

Please, if not already in the works, a book detailing information about the various print editions, AP's, source imagery, the work process, etc. would be very much appreciated.
