Print storage, by aymar75 on Dec 26, 2017 10:17:55 GMT 1, Hello forum members,
Hope you had nice Xmas! Been collecting for a few years now. A lot of prints. I was wondering how you store or frame them? I have folders but I found it not really easy to open and have a look at them. I want to keep them safe but at the same time enjoy them easily.
Happy to have your opinion on this

Print storage, by Schrödinger's Chat on Dec 26, 2017 10:50:28 GMT 1, If you have the room a plan chest must be one of the best ways to store them I would think, 2nd only to framing them and having them up on your walls.

Print storage, by Gentle Mental on Dec 26, 2017 12:17:37 GMT 1, I bought an AO plan cabinet - with lock and 5 da0 size drawers . Made for blueprints. Indestructible. Prints kept pristine in thick Mylar. From office furniture shop. Less than 1k.

Do you back with foam core and tape to give rigidity for the v-style holder?

Sorry to ask novice questions- is there anything that holds the print to the board (like stick on tabs) or is the board the same measurement as the print and the sleeve? Im ordering a bunch of alvin print protectors and trying to decide if i need to get the holders the size of the print or go up a size Thanks!!

No, there is nothing holding the print to the board.
Very specific tape should be used by framers that leaves minimal mark on the print when removed.
You could use Mylar corners to hold on place.
I add acid free paper on top of print too and store flat not on its side like in this image.

Is there an issue storing on side? I would assume not, and there is probably equal risk both on side and flat. I may be over thinking this. Im just about to "buy in to the blik program" and spend 250 on a v mount + couple hundred on sleeves and set my prints in this fashion.

I’m at the edge of knowledge here 😀 - maybe someone else will chime in.
I guess it depends how long a print was on it’s side and if storing flat - how many additional prints are on top.
I wouldn’t think long term on its side is ideal. Nor would too many stacked on top.
Preferred storage would be flat - like a plan chest.
