BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Laugh Now 10 on Dec 29, 2017 3:30:13 GMT 1, What happened to that CWSB that was just on the Bay and scheduled to end in approximately 4 hours? Anyone buy it? It was only @ approx $25K so maybe the seller pulled it??

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Laugh Now 10 on Dec 29, 2017 3:47:14 GMT 1, Thanks for the response, mate. I was planning on bidding as well. It’s a tough print - not too “wall friendly” but a great early edition - and I don’t recall the price of the last one that sold. I’d venture to guess that a standard NOLA white, although from a larger edition, has now surpassed the value of this print. Always liked it, though, and curious where it disappeared to. Any guess what you think the seller was looking for? Cheers.

Possibly pulled it because
a) received an offer and wanted to save on ebay fees b) wasn't looking likely to achieve the result he wanted.
No harm in messaging him directly to find out what happened.

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Black Apple Art on Dec 29, 2017 6:37:54 GMT 1, One went for $56,250 earlier this month in the Forum Auction. IMO this was the king of sleeper prints for many many years and only in the last year or so is it catching up. One of my favs and will look stellar next to a grappling hook

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Poster Bob on Dec 29, 2017 12:59:00 GMT 1, A lot of the postulating on this forum is ridiculous. Using an auction description is one of the biggest mistakes scammers make when using Ebay. You should always google pieces of the description to see if they pulled it from somewhere else and get concrete proof of possession of the work.
The pictures of those prints was taken from forumauction web Maybe was a fake sale the listings descriptions for both are a direct copy from forumauctions also. Hmmm maybe both pieces didnt sell at forumauctions?

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by heller on Dec 29, 2017 14:06:35 GMT 1, I sent several messages to the Seller over a period of days, regarding additional images of the artwork, additional images of the Pest Control, trying to pull the deal off the bay... No responses. I had snipes set that would have raised the selling prices greatly, but cancelled them due to lack of communication. Odd that he went to the bay before coming here and even more strange to have only a 4 day, zero reserve auction over Christmas.
The selling prices on some of the comics he had where insane, 4-5 comics brought him in over $130K.
Whole thing seemed a bit off.

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Sundowner on Dec 29, 2017 14:32:53 GMT 1, These potential 'sales' all look highly suspect IMO:
1) Stock images used, no actual images of the work in situ or the COA 2) No detail around whether they are framed or not 3) Seems strange that the seller has chosen to use the Forum Auctions images (and will therefore be aware of the sale prices earlier this month) yet has elected to not set a reserve on the pieces
I also messaged the seller on the TIWIFA and got no response. I suspect as Viking Surfer suggests, the items got pulled as the seller realised they were well away from being actual market value (and may have achieved enough with his other sales).
Remember, when things look too good to be true they usually are.....

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Deleted on Dec 29, 2017 14:48:02 GMT 1, I am admittedly naive when it comes to Ebay rules. I think I've bought /sold 5 items in my lifetime there.
Question is what exactly would be the scam here or what would be the benefit of this particular listing if false?
From what I saw the seller posted and accurate description, Offered a refund if the purchaser was not happy, There also seems to be Ebay protection with payment if you do not receive what is described, COA's and provenance said to be in place for all works.

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Poster Bob on Dec 29, 2017 14:58:59 GMT 1, The benefit? The money if someone paid him. The buyer would have no protection from PayPal or Ebay due to the amount of the transaction and the use of bank transfer. From my experience PayPal won't cover any transaction over $10,000 and they won't cover multiple transactions used to pay for one item. A seasoned scammer would know better than to take PayPal because of hold times and the ID required. They'd probably insist on bank transfer.

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by wisky on Dec 30, 2017 14:44:48 GMT 1, I was in contact with the seller, the us GWRB was originally bought from Bonhams this year at a cost of > £26k.....
The signed CWSB sold for £18,998.34, which seemed about right as no-one wants it!

BANKSY CWSB EBAY - gone...., by Phear Loathing on Jan 11, 2018 6:42:03 GMT 1, Many moons ago (2013) i took a risk in an u/s gwb with no pest control (seller said he would help me get it) for $3,500.
Seller sent the print, helped me sort the COA and remains an art friend until this day.
Sometimes ya just gotta roll the dice
