I was lucky to buy a porsche 912 from 1965 five years ago. canโt complain at all about a 150-200% increase since then. and I had some nice rides in it as well. Respectfully, that doesn't make vintage cars a good investment (and as has been pointed out, they mostly are not, everyone who has even dabbled in that market knows it). You bought a great little car, easy to find, relatively cheap to maintain, while it was still affordable. The market for the brand of this car has gone apeshit. You made a big profit (of course if you do sell it you will find you don't get exactly those crazy figures being thrown around, but still a very good profit). Doing this on one one car, with a bit of luck is cool. But if it was an investment strategy, you need to sell this car now, and do it again on 5 cars you will buy with the profits...and this it where it goes pear shaped. You will discover how fickle the markets are, you will have huge bills on some of your cars, you will start to feel the burn, and you will want out. That is how it goes for most people... All in, have fun in the 912, they are cracking little porkers !
You can make money if you are prepared to get your hands dirty and do a lot of travelling. I know someone who used to order the Hemmings motor news from a newsagent and scan all the ads. Phone up a seller, fly over, buy the car and import it. Now with it all on the internet and people who expect to make money by doing nothing apart from having money to invest in the first place, the middle men and dealers have got involved. Rarities cars which are correct down to the last nut and bolt are harder to find and sellers generally more clued up as to their real value.
There again people who buy and sell cheap cars from car auctions and make a lot of money and drive around in Bentleys.
912's drive better than they look, they are ugly as fuck.

Gonefellow looks to me like Castle Gallery and the Gonefellow clique are just trying to create another Banksy. Trying to build up hype with the hope that flippers take over.
Maybe they can get Gonefellow to make some art on an artex wall and have some dealer remove it and sell the story to the local paper.
