Lucifers Pizza is pretty good. Had it the other day. www.luciferspizza.com
You're also near Manhattan beach. I like Manhattan Beach Post (M.B. Post). The bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits is pretty damn good. Nice area to walk around. But parking is horrible in this area. Http://www.Eatmbpost.com

Visit LOS ANGELES πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by kultur on Mar 14, 2014 6:53:55 GMT 1, Great information, I'm going to be staying in Marina Del Rey, just down the road from Venice. I will have a car and can travel if its worth it. If you were more specific on what you would like to see I am sure more people... myself included... that could help you find some amazing things.
The 3 story How Nosm piece on the LA Weekly building on Sepulveda Blvd is amazing... plus an Invader on the side... but if you do not like HN then it wouldnt make sense.
Pissing dog in Beverly Hills. PARKing swing girl downtown... nice untouched unperspexed Banksy's in the outdoors

Visit LOS ANGELES πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by noirrion on Mar 14, 2014 7:12:14 GMT 1, Also a good thread for me as I am looking forward to be there soon. So many great galleries in Culver City and Venice.
But main challenge for me is to find a good area to look for a hotel/AirBnB room as there are really big distances . Was thinking about Downtown or Central L.A. but if that shouldn't be a good idea (traffic, too expensive or whatever) let me know

Visit LOS ANGELES πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by bjornca on Mar 14, 2014 17:01:15 GMT 1, Washington & National - That all has been gone now for about a month. Didn't realize that - haven't been down there for some time.
You're also near Manhattan beach. I like Manhattan Beach Post (M.B. Post). The bacon cheddar buttermilk biscuits is pretty damn good. Nice area to walk around. But parking is horrible in this area. Http://www.Eatmbpost.com The bacon cheddar biscuits with maple butter are one of the most popular things on the menu (great restaurant), and Fishing with Dynamite next door is also very good (same owner / chef). Other recommendations for restaurants down there are Gjelina, Superba Snack Bar, Paiche, and Tasting Kitchen.
If heading downtown to the Arts District, Wurstkuche is a good spot to check out. A lot of great restaurants downtown as well - Orsa & Winston, Baco Mercat, Bestia, Alma, and Patina (these aren't cheap), if you enjoy this sort of thing.

Love that ROA, I've passed by it a couple times running around downtown but I haven't had a chance to stop and get a good look at it yet.
Here's a couple I took earlier today. New Herakut on a rooftop in Santa Monica (if you couldn't tell by the "Good morning Santa Monica" on it) and a Nelson Mandela in Venice by David Flores. That Herakut is one of my current favorites in the city.

Visit LOS ANGELES πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by kultur on May 9, 2014 15:56:15 GMT 1, Spending 8 weeks in total exploring California. The majority of time will be spent in LA, San Francisco and San Diego. I have done a fair amount of research on each destination but any info from locals on must see galleries, upcoming shows, walls etc. would be appreciate. Any big fairs going on at this time of the year too? Must visit restaurants? Promise to follow up with photos. Thanks it might help to say when those 8 weeks will be.

He lives in San Francisco now so you might be able to see some of his stuff up there. He's really wild in a good way. Pick up a copy of The San Diego Reader, it has all the happenings down here in it. If you need a contact in the San Diego area let me know. I live between Orange County and San Diego. Let me know.

I'd recommand the Arts district in Culver City, you can see lots of street art and many galleries you are probably familiar with, Thinkspace, Corey Helford, etc etc. Send me a PM if you want to grab a coffee while your in town. The muesums are also a great place to spend the day, LACMA, MOCA, The Getty, and cheap too

Dave White has an exhibition at Gusford Gallery that should still be on view, and the below LA Canvas mags have a few other exhibitions listed (need to search for what page they are on):
LA Canvas - May/June LA Canvas - March/April

The muesums are also a great place to spend the day, LACMA, MOCA, The Getty, and cheap too Good list there. I'd add Corey Helford's sister gallery CHG Circa, the Bergamot Station gallery collective in Santa Monica, maybe the Arts District downtown if the sun's out and you're feeling brave. As for museums, the Hammer Museum in Westwood is worth a visit too, and I've always wanted to visit (yet still haven't) the appointment-only Frederick R. Weisman Art Foundation in Bel Air here: www.weismanfoundation.org/museum_info.html
No matter what you've heard about LA traffic, it's going to be worse than you expect, and LA's sprawl is legendary. Try to arrange your gallery visits by neighborhood and plan well. Be prepared to fight or pay for parking. And if you get homesick, there's a few British pubs scattered around -- try Cat & Fiddle in Hollywood or King's Head in Santa Monica. Have fun, and welcome!
Edit: SF MOMA is absolutely worth checking out too.

Visit LOS ANGELES πΊπ² Street Art, Galleries, Events, by bjornca on May 10, 2014 23:07:53 GMT 1, This shows a number of walls: Los Angeles - Murals Might not want to go to some of these areas, though. Also have a list of probably 50 or so murals I've seen (if they are still there) that I can email. I definitely enjoy driving past the Retna and Shepard Fairey murals on the West Hollywood library parking lot daily (I posted some photos previously in the Los Angeles street art thread).

Here's a couple more I stopped by while I was running around.
El Mac, my favorite one in the city (and there are a lot to choose from!).
David Flores outside the famous Viper Room on Sunset
Fin DAC and Angelina Christina
Stopped to check out this Dot Dot and saw it had been removed So that's this one, handgun, and the downtown bumfire that are gone now, haven't checked on the other ones in a while. Get him back to LA!
