Help With Banksy Original, by Dive Jedi on Jan 15, 2018 6:34:32 GMT 1, It's a different image all together. Basicly everything is of as I tried to illustrate below. Although you would need to cut a different stencil for a street sign it would make no sense to make a different image for it. You could cut the same image different, but that would not result in differences like this. I'm no Banksy expert, but did he sign street signs? The signature seems of as well.
Buying it at an auction house is not really provenance of authenticity. It just means someon else was fooled as well. The whole story about not being authenticated by POW sounds like a scam to me. That's just reversed logic. Do you have proof of POW rejecting authentication?
My guess is they said it was a fake and then conveniently the story was changed to not being authenticated because it was removed from it's orignal place. Which in itself could be true, but that does not mean it is real.
So what is your friend going to do now? Take his loss and enjoy this 50 pound street sign ? Or play dumb and put it back on eBay for 15K?

Help With Banksy Original, by Dive Jedi on Jan 15, 2018 9:52:47 GMT 1, On the other hand......
I was kind of curious of where this image came from, since it's not a copy of the wall image. Which would be the most logic to make a fake of.
Apparantly there is also a sticker / decal of this, sold by POW. Maybe some member can confirm. That sticker named "Keep Left" is actually this image, so this street sign is based upon the POW sticker.
So if some Banksy expert member could shed some light on the signature tag..... it might be plausible.

Everyone thought that it had never been done before, i guess it could possibly be real then. Any banksy expert can shed a light on this? More likely to be a fake, copied from the sticker.
Anyone who took this from the street would have taken pictures in situ... and most of the real Banksy street signs are documented somewhere. So unlikely to be real... especially as this would be such a sort after, iconic image.
Also, I'd have assumed he'd have done this on a real "Keep Left" sign. Not any random road sign with a red circle.
And, this was a mural he painted huge, not something he used for small stencils... as far as I know.

Help With Banksy Original, by uncle on Jan 15, 2018 17:25:28 GMT 1, A quick google image search led to this Gallery that previously had this piece for sale.
www.louislepink.com/gallery.html Looking at some of the other 'Banksy' pieces, particularly the 'signed' photo of the Spy Booth (ed of 300) doesn't bode well... :/
If it was me, I'd cancel the transaction sharpish.
Sorry...

Help With Banksy Original, by Lunch Special on Jan 15, 2018 21:49:19 GMT 1, It’s just poor in nature. Granted B may have hit some street signs along the way to wherever he was heading but to be honest if here’s no pic on banksy.co.uk and no known provenance or published photos. It means it’s because it’s proabbly not by the man. Just sayin.

I just saw that the book "Wall and Peace by Banksy", that picture on the book seem to be closer then the other. But not sure its the same. If it happens to be "the same size" then it could be a lead...
i.pinimg.com/originals/66/95/e2/6695e2ab2886245ac4d711b795d04845.jpg
Or its just another spot someone could have copied it from. And it doesnt mean he accually did a stencil like it.

Help With Banksy Original, by Guy Denning on Jan 17, 2018 11:13:23 GMT 1, The background white behind the black isn't formed by a stencil but freehand... suggesting plenty of time to make it if it can be freehand sprayed to fit where the image goes so nicely Personally I think someone's used the A4 sticker image as a a base for a homebrew stencil and walloped it onto a randomly found or bought road sign. We all know with Banksy's work that context is everything and there isn't any apparent relevance to the subject of the sign and the stencil.

But indeed as mr Guy Denning mentioned ; the freehand sprayed white bothered me as well. The stencil is made to use negative space. So painting the background white first is kinda weird. Especially with the flowers.

I don’t really understand this comment.
Surely if someone is a fan of banksys art having a Street work would be amazing. Sure this one may be fake but if I could hang an authentic banksy Street work of an image I think that would be a centerpiece to a collection.

Help With Banksy Original, by irl1 on Jan 23, 2018 1:03:46 GMT 1, Would just like to inform members that don't know this paypal rule. Two years ago paypal bought in a rule. If you buy any item and pay by paypal, then find its a fake you can get a full refund. You do not need to prove its fake, just by claiming its fake you can get a full refund. There is even some of the ebay and paypal staff who don't know this new rule. But do take note of it if you are buying and get scammed like a lot of people do on some websites. It can also backfire on sellers selling real goods, as it makes no difference, as paypal will let the buyer send back the goods once they claim they are fake. No exceptions to the rule!
