SOS Update, by Strange Al on Sept 1, 2007 14:16:50 GMT 1, Email from SOS:
"Good morning/evening/afternoon to you all, just a quick note to let everyone know we now have a proper mailing list set up and not a crappy email based one that can't get the job done properly, everyone who signs up to it will now be notified of print releases as they happen at the same time so please go to our home page and fill in your email address so we an let you know as an when prints are released, the old mailing list will be voided from tomorrow.
We still don't have a shopping cart but will get it sorted when larger editions are released. The new print from K-Guy will be ready in a few weeks then Scorn's Tarot card, Luc Price, MAU_MAU and a very special lady will be coming out to stay at the SoS resort over the next 3 months so expect some beautiful new prints to be appearing soon.
Beejoir also has a small edition of prints that might be released through the site as well next month!
Best regards, Kate"

I don't know, but seems like a reasonable guess that she's making a return visit. A Swoon print or even better some originals would be real coup for SOS!

SOS Update, by Strange Al on Sept 1, 2007 14:34:23 GMT 1, SOS has got cyclops now too ey? Hmmmm Can we just *cough* drop the bit about beejoir, No need for the whole of the USA to know that bit is there?
I was umming and ahhing about posting the Email in the first place. I know some folks are vehemently opposed to disseminating this type of information wider than is necessary. Though my feeling on this subject is that the forum should be here to provide members with useful information about releases and new artists. I've posted this before, but I'm 100% certain those individuals purely in this for the money are more than aware what's going on at each of the main online publishers/galleries. If you're in this to make a few bucks, you'll already have signed up to every mailing list there is and regularly check the main websites. Therefore IMO any detriment is outweighed by the benefits of sharing information, which should be encouraged. If we're unwilling or feel unable to share when things are happening, this place loses much of its value IMO.

As usual a well balanced and fair response. Just kidding really joschi. Although sometimes i do wish that heads up like this could be shared among those that post and not just available to any lurker scanning these sites. It would kind of help create an incentive to contribute whilst probably help sharing the information among individuals that are most passionate about the art. Bassically share with those that share is my motto.

SOS Update, by Simococo on Sept 1, 2007 14:46:07 GMT 1, I think a new Swoon print is long overdue, but not totally sure on how the work translates to print. Hence why we probably haven't seen one for a while? Saying that, Nu's frame job on the Just Seeds print was special.

Fin - I knew you were half joking. Though sooner or later someone was going to pipe up and I thought I'd get the retort in early.
Funnily enough, I've pondered the very same thing. Should there be some positive incentive for people to contribute to the forum before they're given full access? Maybe, though I'm not 100% this is the way to go. I spent a long time reading the forum as a guest and lurking, before I ever made a post. From the outside it seems like a bit of a club and I think certain individuals (who really benefit positively from this place - and I don't mean the outright flippers), either don't want to or don't feel comfortable contributing.
What I would do is remove the guest function. Although I use it myself to scan what's going on when I can't be bothered to log in, it's not really necessary. Plenty of other forums don't have it and work just fine (including Wall Candy). I think removing it would provide a little more transparency as to who actually logs on and also act as a bit of an incentive to get involved.

SOS Update, by stuey09 on Sept 1, 2007 15:04:52 GMT 1, Some good points Josh. I can't see how to eliminate the lurkers who just visit in order to make money from forthcoming releases. It's just something that we have to live with. Besides, we all know that the really interesting information goes on through emails, etc.

SOS Update, by pezlow on Sept 1, 2007 19:11:27 GMT 1, Really hope it is a swoon print. There is a shortage of work at a reasonable price available from her and I would love to see a classic swoon image being given the SoS treatment.
