#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by absyrd on Jan 23, 2018 13:29:56 GMT 1, Now with POW gone, which site(s) will expose us to and offer prints from up-and-coming or established artists?
I once thought papermonster.net had promise, but it seems pretty dead.
Anywhere else? I've been out of the game for a while.

#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by kaimac on Jan 23, 2018 13:36:55 GMT 1, My money's on some type of POW 2.
So much knowledge and experience there I don't see how some of the folks involved don't set up something new.

#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by Daniel Silk on Jan 23, 2018 13:58:33 GMT 1, Places like Print Club, Nelly Duff have potential I think, but maybe the market has changed as many artists prefer to sell direct from their own websites now.

Good point. Now with social media and the ease of use/creation of a shopify or bigcartel site, I guess we could just see a ton of individual sites.
It'd still be nice to have a few places that resemble "collectives" who all work together to cross-promote and sell.

Artist sites will work for artists that have built a following, but what about new and less popular artists? Big opportunity there, imo.

I missed the golden era, but still enjoyed a few shows at Commercial St towards the end of their gallery era.

#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by Winter on Jan 23, 2018 15:16:44 GMT 1, Whoever can give people the opportunity to make quick easy profit. Most on here will move on to Supreme and concert tickets to satisfy their cravings. The art thing is a bi-product.

#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by adewilliams on Jan 23, 2018 15:25:59 GMT 1, This is a brilliant article about 2 artists doing things their way and doesn't take much imagination to see how it could have inspired POW: www.theguardian.com/artanddesign/2013/aug/12/tracey-emin-sarah-lucas-shop
I think Alexander McQueen worked in a similar way, so hopefully we'll see artists just doing what they want to do in their own way.

#RIPPOW Who is going to pick up the torch?, by absyrd on Jan 23, 2018 16:11:38 GMT 1, Thanks for that link.
I think ESPO'S Art World is somewhere along those lines, except he is quite established already. I've yet to make it out there.
