Taken space invader, by thetruth01 on Jan 29, 2018 12:24:58 GMT 1, I was working on a mural painting job in London and mentioned to a builder about
my interest in invader work and showed him one that was on a wall near to where we were working.
The next week we came to do some further work and he had taken it off the wall
and jokingly handed it to me in a bag.
Feeling a bit guilty for mentioning this to him and him doing this.
I asked a tile artist I work with to have look at reconstructing the artwork as best she could back to its original state.
Just seeing what peoples views are on this and if its just something I should keep in my collection, contact invader and return, sell, destroy  ?

We’d be very interested to see what you’ve got as it’s probably one of our fakes anyway.
if It’s something we can repair or salvage you can return it to us. Other than that destroy it.
They are worthless and only an idiot would buy tiles that could have been scraped up anywhere. The same sort that thinks it’s clever to steal and then try to sell them

Definitely c) SELL would be the most righteous thing to do.
No.. It is taken off the wall now anyways, just keep it and enjoy it. Destroying makes no sense at all, selling neither as you don't have any authenticity proofs, well, turning it back might be an option.. But well..

If not then it's anyones property who takes it, unless of course the building owner has claimed it themselves.

There has been and will be a deep debate about who owns what, and I think even Invader himself lost a court case to someone that took his tiles off the wall.
Invader has already said he will not authenticate any stolen street pieces so it seems those tiles won't carry any value.
Part of street art is that it's not going to last forever so expect more to come down and more to go up. It's all part of the process.

“The experience of ice carving and the melting of the sculpture over time to nothing but a memory and this photographic documentation, is very similar to making and putting work in the public domain. It’s temporary, and once made and positioned it’s no longer yours. Trying to retain ownership of the physical piece is like trying to keep ice in your hands.”
