Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Love Is In The Air on Jun 2, 2020 17:00:22 GMT 1, After a slow start someone eventually bid and the unsigned Grannies hammered at 10k, so roughly 13k with fees.
Side point, but surely if someone was selling privately on this forum they would get 10k or more for one of these without having to pay fees? Not sure auction is the way to go with the lower-priced prints atm but guess depends what commission the house is taking.

Not sure auction is the way to go with the lower-priced prints atm but guess depends what commission the house is taking. Totally agree auction is looking less and less attractive for these lower value prints. The lower tier auction houses are just not getting the reults and the big boys will probably not bend on their fees for small lots so will take a big chunk from the seller. In an ideal world serious buyers and sellers should meet in the middle of hammer price and total price paid by an auction buyer and everyone would win then.

Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Dive Jedi on Jun 2, 2020 17:41:04 GMT 1, why will it be embarrassing?.. Isnt it just as much a case of buyer should take time and investigate and understand they are buying? ( its not my WCP nor do I own any just for ref ) While some fault definitely lays with buyer, considering they arenโt intentionally misleading anyone. An argument could definitely be made that reproductions have no place in a legitimate auction, and buyers shouldnโt have to read the details to make sure a piece is original/authentic. Catawiki doesn't even accept WCP's....

Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by Dive Jedi on Jun 2, 2020 18:21:15 GMT 1, Seller of sale ends didnโt do great Both buyer and seller didn't do great.
Buyer pays 19.000 x 1,25 = 23.750 Seller gets 19.000 x 0,85 = 16.150 minus marketing fees.
A deal at the forum of 21K would have been better for both.
Only party winning is the house - as ever.

Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by mrizzle on Jun 2, 2020 19:10:19 GMT 1, If anyone's interested in the Grannies at the auction, it's got a burn mark on the head of one of the grannies (assume it's the one that didn't sell at Tate Ward). Thought I'd highlight that it isn't 'mint' as it has previously been described - and no, I'm not looking to buy it. Were you sent a condition report? I asked for two, got nothing. The lots a very poorly photographed and described.
I requested a condition report for the Pose piece and also got nothing. I also emailed Penelope directly who copied in the โbidsโ team who then merely sent my a hyperlink to the โHow to bidโ section of the website. Not what I asked. With no images of the actual print and no condition report, I refrained from placing any bids.

Chiswick โข Urban Art Auctions ๐ฌ๐ง, by andypandy on Jun 2, 2020 21:09:11 GMT 1, I canโt get through the results as I donโt have that kind of time.
However my penneth worth on what Iโve seen:
To consign any signed Banksy let alone a Sale Ends (which is one of the least expensive right now) into an auction which has close to 500 lots is probably not a good idea.
But to consign it into an auction that has almost 500 lots which includes both replicas and low value undesirable artwork is borderline insanity.
I get that times are tough right now and the market isnโt stable but really? ยฃ19k hammer minus seller fees is an awful result for the consignee.
Also that post regarding the Grannies with the house not declaring the burn damage is an out and out liberty. Then putting down some fanny about not being aware of the condition......... Sounds like a proper stroke to me. If Iโd just pulled up ยฃ11k for that then found out one of the old dears had a bit of shit on her face, Iโd be doing my nut. #buyersremorse ๐
Chunks of lots passed also. Speaks for itself
