You could see about suing him or maybe contact your own insurance company

The restorer is called Alex McManus and he was recommended to me by a local guy who owns his own art shop - I was told he has worked with lots of major galleries etc but now I very much doubt that is true. (I have since informed the guy who recommended him to me and he is livid - he won't be recommending him to anyone else that's for sure).
As suggested, I think I will go and ask Alex what he is plans to do now and I will get in touch with pest control to ask for their advice too. I might look at the link to the restorer recommended by kimble as well to see if he thinks anything can be done. While I am going to try to get some kind of compensation, I would obviously prefer to get it fixed if at all possible...
Nighmare doesn't even begin to cover it, I'm absolutely gutted!

Problem is this can make the blindstamp less visible and pencil numbering fades. I know someone this happened to, but to be fair the print was in a horrible state when it was given to the restorer and is now "ok" for the wall

So pm me if you need and I can send you her CV. Would do nothing with it till you get a written assessment.
That's what a restorer should give you before they start that has any risks etc
