Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by scallywag on Sept 13, 2006 1:06:28 GMT 1, i have the bottom version in mint condition within a cardboard box with handwritten by bansky lettering on it.
the limited edition was 57/900.
it was given to me as a gift and i have not found a frame to fit it so it has sat idle.
at the weekend someone said they paid a bit of money for a banksy print on ebay.
i expect i'll keep it though as i like it. i also have a rude policeman print.
definitely genuine stuff though as i got them via the man himself.

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Nov 7, 2006 20:00:24 GMT 1, Print itself is good, just a shame about the condition, if you are wanting a HAND you should be able to get this one fairly cheap, shame about the damage but should frame up well, a good framer could work wonders with it by the looks of it.

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by risky on Jan 28, 2006 18:04:26 GMT 1, Does anyone have any information on this print.I've heard that the print was changed halfway through the run. The edition was out of 500. Ive seen ones with the 'BANKSY',tag printed on the right hand side bottom corner and ones with the 'BANKSY',tag in white on the leg of the last copper on the right. Were any of them signed? cheers,Risky

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 10:13:15 GMT 1, Not that much if its unsigned and unnumbered as its not part of the official print run. Nice to have on your wall, and a nice story behind it, but not worth too much.

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 14:12:26 GMT 1, He's being serious snorky, its not part of the recognised numbered run, an unsanctioned print, only worth whatever someone is willing to pay for a pricey poster, authenticated and numbered it'd be worth 1500 to 2 grand, without that authentication, it looks great on the wall, but only worth what you can find someone to part with for it. Dont think this is quite what you wanted to hear. Hold onto, frame it and enjoy it for what it is.

ahhh, I think ya being a little harsh on this Foundation OK, its not numbered or signed, but its still the real thing, printed by the same bloke, from the same screen, on the same day ;D Maybe Snorky could get Banksy to authenticate it!

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 15:10:03 GMT 1, and maybe hell will freeze over... I dont think I am being overly harsh on a backdoor print Silk, no point in telling the guy that he has a full on bona fide banksy HAND, when he dont. Its an unofficial backdoor print outwith the sanctioned edition / release, we have had this discussion on a weekly basis for a year now, the limited run of 750 or whatever with A/Ps are the only Banksy's for that run, anything else should have been destoyed by the printers, not handed out to dodgy dave down the boozer..... Snorky has a nice tale to go with it, hang it and apreciate it, he may get a couple of quid for it, but it aint a banksy. ( cue hand wringers moaning about its from the same run etc etc etc...) If you are so keen for these prints to be recognised as genuine Banksy's swap an authenticated Banksy print with snorky for his HAND.

Now that would be a fake, and Mr Banksy would not like that But if Banksy and POW are happy to hand out a few un-numbered and unsigned pieces to mates, then they are good enough to go up on my wall

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 15:50:26 GMT 1, The difference is that you know what you have, a new fan could quite easily shell out a small fortune only to find that what they had bought was not part of the recognised run, there aint no point in telling people their prints are fine and dandy when they aren't. As an established collector you know what to look out for and what different images are worth, someone new to the Banksy thing could get very easily caried away. I have some very strong feelings on the matter ( encase you hadn't noticed) and am aware of your ambivalence to them, supporting back door prints is very close to suporting scalpers, but thats only my opinion.

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 15:54:11 GMT 1, Silk these prints are not handed out by POW and Banksy, they are scuttled out the back door of a printers in Bristol, they are neither signed / un-numbered or stamped and hearted, which are the 2 variations I think you are alluding to. They are unsanctioned stolen property at best.

Banksy • Have A Nice Day Print • 2003, by foundation on Oct 9, 2006 17:42:06 GMT 1, Snorky you said your self he got handed it straight from the press, be it given by banksy or someone else, all we have is your word, your print, has got NO recognisable or trackable provenance. It is undoubtably from the same print run as are the many other back door prints in circulation, its just not from the official run of prints released by banksy, so whilst its a very nice picture, it is not an official banksy realease as in not one of the 750 released by banksy's representatives, you have said your self that its un numbered and unsigned, therefore a pricey poster if it was to be sold. Provenance is about proof, without PROOF it is a backdoor print.

rather a sweeping statement !
Prints were given as gifts without numbering - this is a fact - so stating that anything without aformentioned markings is back door is clearly incorrect - yes, stamps etc are the best method for a quick ID, but please dont make statements that are clearly incorrect!
2 +2 does not always make 4
cheers again
