And to be honest, thanks to the $ there are a lot of writers being able to do what they do full time. Lots sold in auctions do also render revenue to the artist, which private sales do not.

Although this is not specifically auction-related, I would encourage Artsy to incorporate more stringent vetting procedures for sellers. It looks like fraudsters are currently able to slip through with relative ease. They're using Artsy as a platform to offload fakes to naive buyers who place their trust in the company.
One specific example is Travelogues Fine Art (apparently based in New Mexico and run by Daniel North and Sherri North), which is selling fake Banksy canvases, street pieces and ephemera.

Some of the imagery isn't even by Banksy.
And when both:
(i) the large number of fakes sold; and
(ii) the various stated provenances (Dismaland, Central Park stall during Better Out Than In, public sculpture intervention with wheel clamp, VISA sign described as a late-90s piece)
are taken into account, there ceases to be any reasonable possibility that Travelogues Fine Art is unknowingly dealing in forgeries.

An early example of Banksyยดs "Bomb Hugger" when it was more common known as "Bomb Lover" or just "Bomb Love". Signed verso in pencil.
This work has been submitted twice to Pest Control. In 2017 with no response at all. Then again in 2018 where it received the
authentication request number: 46384. Only 4 days later the former owner received the "verdict":
"This is not eligible for authentication. It is not a commercial work of art".
And thatยดs kind of interesting as the work is signed Banksy verso.
Again, thatโs not a question of authentication. If it was the artist should have disputed his signature and work. He did not.
Work was purchased by the original owner in London around 2002/2003 for 150 GBP. Possibly TomTom gallery that sold these kind of works around that time. A photo of the display window from TomTom gallery shows a similar work on the wall seen through the window.
The work is accompanied by a letter of provenance from the first owner and it comes with the original e-mails from Pest Control.
