Oli is a stand up guy and it was a pleasure to meet him. He even called me this morning to thank me for coming out to the show and to try and comfort the Print disappointments. This was my most anticipated show of the year and looking forward will probably be my favorite.
With that being said I think the way the print was released was lazy and disappointing at best. I love the image, would have grabbed it immediately if it was available. I get it. The gallery explained it, Oli explained it, it’s just lame. Galleries are a dime a dozen in this city and considering their building is gonna be a Chipotle soon you think would try and build up those local fans.
To top it off I’m pretty sure the passed food gave me the s**ts. I even stayed away from the shrimp!

I'd keep asking the gallery or popink.
People may not buy if they're not keen on the image (and price)... plus emails often go to Junk Mail or get missed! Might be a few of these back available in the next day or 2, I'd assume!

Can't afford it but really happy to have my first (quite possibly only) Oli. And I'm 'gay AF' so no internal struggles about whether my fragile sense of self can cope with people seeing it on my wall.
Interesting that it seems to be generally viewed as being a purely positive image. It reads mixed to me. The person in it is waving his flag but wearing a mask to cover his face, i.e. wants to be proud but is still scared of being himself.
Think it's a really bold, interesting choice for a print release and think it says very good things about Oli as an artist. He's releasing things that are true to what he wants to say rather than just throwing out the most obviously commercial option.

I think many people are failing to understand there’s a big difference between the people who would love to buy the print but aren’t on the list and the people who are actually on the list and don’t want to buy it.

On this specific print Id guess over half the buyers are people looking to double thier money. Not put it on their wall. But would love to be prooved wrong.

I honestly don’t think that one has to be LGBT to want to own, hang and enjoy this. It’s aesthetically pleasing, if you like Oli’s style of painting. It’s possible to support the ethos of Pride, whilst being straight.
