Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by Express Post on Jun 19, 2018 12:55:56 GMT 1, No. I don't think so. I just don't feel these are good value. And people are realising that too.โฌ5500 is a lot for what you get.
I emailed Max after I got the pdf, and I could still get my hands on a few things. And the show starts tomorrow.
Different story for Javier Calleja. Waitlist and apologies, way before the show opened

Massively over subscribed and 100% going to sell out. Even the big pieces have been requested and they are next level money for Pejac.
Negativity is fine , itโs all some people know. Weโll all be in Paris smashing it up with friends enjoying great art and the Parisian party scene..
You can come too.

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by Express Post on Jun 19, 2018 13:54:21 GMT 1, Dw, I'm already going ๐
Please dont sidetrack the discussion, where was I being negative about the art or enjoying it? Just talking about the price.
Now pay attention because you missed the first time, I am not talking about the large ones, they are ok value. It is the A3s.
Besides, you never mentioned if you were buying the art. I'd like to see you back it up. Putting your money where your mouth is.
Did you try for one, Y or N?
Will ask Max if these are massively oversubscribed.

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by jkesquire on Jun 19, 2018 14:26:19 GMT 1, I believe these are priced perfectly and appropriately. This is not an aggressive knock on what Express Post has said above, simply my own opinion on the matter and he's as entitled to his feelings as the rest of us.
Considering what Meadow/Seppuku/Heavy Sea PRINTS are selling for ($5-6000usd), I don't imagine many people complaining about spending a small amount more in order to own an ORIGINAL sketch on A3. I personally would rather spend the same 6 or so thousand dollars on a smaller original, than a larger format print (edition of 70+).
Regardless, we're talking about thousands of dollars for either a print, or an original sketch, so it's a lot of money either way. However, it's a lot of money to own something from one of the more talented, consistent, and creative artists in the current art world. Look at the body of work he's putting out for this show. A huge number of sketches, each one more impressive than the last.
I personally would love to own one of the sketches, and would buy one if given the opportunity, even though its a stretch for the current budget. I've got a couple prints and the sculpture, and would be thrilled to add an original to the collection, even if it's a sketch....considering how impressive said sketches turned out.
This debate over the appropriateness of the price is perfectly normal. It would be pretty bizarre if everybody agreed on value/price here on the forum lol. I can understand why some would say it is too pricey, but I think Pejac has earned these prices, on top of the fact that hes donating a ton of money to charity for the print release. Here's to not being crucified for my post!

I think you make a point that is dead right - if it's an original sketch, then it only needs one person to agree on the price to make it the right price.

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by Henry Gale Was Here on Jun 19, 2018 15:14:18 GMT 1, I know I'm kinda late to the party, but I thought I had someone in Paris who could buy a lottery ticket for me but that fell through- they're not going to be around.
If some kind soul is going to the show and doesn't mind buying me a lottery ticket (I'm in the US), I would be most appreciative and will compensate you for your time and hassle. Please PM me if you would be able to pick up an extra lottery ticket, thanks!
edit: thanks to the kind soul who just volunteered to help me out, much appreciated!!

*Cringe*
Anyway, as spectacular as they are, it's helluva lot of cash, 5k GBP! for an a3 sketch for a talented, but untested artist with a CV the length of a finger. But if the secondary print market dictates then that's what happens. Good luck those having a punt.

And can't afford a signed show card anymore.
And it's hardly a "sketch". These are finished works of art, I think.

Just guessing though. Saves on shipping

I have a feeling that those who are unhappy with the price point value oil painting over charcoal as a medium and would pay for the same sized oil painting vs a charcoal drawing.

Describing them as they've been described. Or it could go all neate, micalef et Al. Truth is, still an expensive punt, because neither you or I know. If you like it and can afford, all is well.

A sketch is "a rough or unfinished drawing or painting, often made to assist in making a more finished picture."
These look pretty detailled and finished to me. His medium is drawing in this show. So just as worthwhile as oil painting. It is - as ever - the idea that makes it great.

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by jkesquire on Jun 19, 2018 16:32:39 GMT 1, My apologies for my misuse of the word "sketch."
I couldn't agree more that these are completed works of art, and not just sketches

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by touchdowntodd on Jun 19, 2018 17:32:02 GMT 1, Is anyone who has expressed interest still waiting to hear? I have been allocated a piece but I am in two minds about going ahead with the purchase - it's a great drawing, but it's a lot of money. I'd like to sleep on it, but the implied urgency and tales of "100s of disappointed collectors" is putting me off the whole thing to be honest.ย
I wish I'd even heard back, saw preview, etc.. SAD to miss

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by Deleted on Jun 19, 2018 17:35:52 GMT 1, *Cringe* Anyway, as spectacular as they are, it's helluva lot of cash, 5k GBP! for an a3 sketch for a talented, but untested artist with a CV the length of a finger. But if the secondary print market dictates then that's what happens. Good luck those having a punt.
Was supposed to be cringe silly.. ๐

I'll just be disappointed. You did it to yourself.
Congratulations!

Everything needs to be tied up quickly as the show starts tomorrow so the urgency is warranted.

Pejac Paris show June 20th - 24th, by Flashback on Jun 19, 2018 17:50:09 GMT 1, Everything needs to be tied up quickly as the show starts tomorrow so the urgency is warranted. Thank you, that makes sense. I don't enjoy feeling rushed so it left a sour taste. It seems I must have requested one of the least popular drawings! Totally understand nobody likes to be rushed when it's a big decision but there's going to be an obscene amount of back and forth for them this week and all needs to be finalised:)
Why would you think it's one of the least popular? Everyone will need to complete the sale soon no matter which piece they've gotten. If you liked it in the first place then surely you still like it now?
