I donโt see whatโs so puzzling: Somebody reported Barcode number xxx as stolen in 2010, a few months ago your parents applied for a COA for the same print, thereby giving Pest Control its location. Pest Control contact the old bill with the address (the print was most likely also already listed on the Policeโs Stolen Art Register too) and your parents got the knock.

COA was applied for in January and.... Tons of CID from the city's most serious branch, magistrates and a search warrant? Seems like overkill to me but there you go. But yes the chain of events you describe is exact how I imagine it went down. |

Surely, PC would ask the important questions like the source of print, dates purchased, names etc rather than dial 999. Duplicate number or theft, surely they would gather info first to pass on to the old bill.

I got scammed on ebay reported it to the police, told them his name and address, his facebook account, and told them i would travel to England to give evidence against him at my own expense and all they done was send me an information email on how not to get scammed. |

The police want it in custody which is annoying me cause things go 'missing' in custody etc. I want PC to contact them when they see it was bought direct from POW and not purchased second hand so it doesn't come to that.. If its not a duplicate edition number than whoever has reported it stolen is committing insurance fraud and once we are cleared I want them done for the stress they are putting my parents through |

In all seriousness, if your story is legit I do hope it all works out for you. Doing what Pest Control does is tough, because the Banksy print history is full of poor record keeping, one-offs and odd situations, fraud, theft, backdoor prints, etc. It's terribly difficult making order of all that, especially when so much $$$$$ is at stake.

Again the onus is on you to prove ownership. I am going to say it, because everyone else is thinking it......your story is too sketchy to be some admin error.
