Advices about Manchester area, by disappointed on May 28, 2018 0:03:35 GMT 1, The Museum of Science and Industry is excellent.
Tram out to 'media city' for the Imperial War Museum North, which is also handy for The Lowry..
And the Police Museum is good fun although has very limited opening hours..
I guess there are tours of the football stadiums too if interested in football...

I havenโt been back to Manchester since โ89 (apart from visiting Old Trafford as an away fan). Does Aflecks Palace still exist?

I remember it as the place to go for second hand 501โs, which were all the rage in Manchester in the late 80โs. Have many fond memories of Manchester. Is the Ritzy still open? And does it still have the sprung dance floor? It had a good indie night there.

You should revisit as I suspect you will be amazed at how much it has changed, with so much regeneration and reinvestment (and gentrification) taking place after the IRA Arndale bombing of 1996..

War Museum, the Lowery, a few shops, restaurants and coffee shops. Also the water sports centre for SUP, canoeing and other paddle sports. All close together.

You are right. So many places Iโd like to revisit. Piccadilly Records. The Lass OโGowrie. Aflecks Palace. Wonder what the Corn Exchange is now. A little wander around Fallowfield. 30 years is a time. I will do.

The corn exchange is a food court now, as is the recently reopened Mackie Mayors which, for me, was far better used as a skate park than the contrived, soulless, nonsense it has now become. Best thing about arriving in Manchester by train, or leaving even, is that within spitting distance of Piccadilly are tap rooms of two of the UKs very best breweryโs - Track and Cloudwater...

Thanks. Iโll check it out. However, I must say that these days I find myself rarely listening to music that isnโt at least two decades old.

Cloudwater is among the best of the best of UK craft brewers. Some great beers. Another great Mancs brewery is Runaway also located city central.

In the city centre, check around the Northern Quarter, thereโs pieces by Martin Whatson, Snik, Case Maclaim, Hyuro, Tank Petrol, Nomad Clan, C215, Dale Grimshaw and a few others that slip my mind. If you want the street names for all those PM me.
A lot of decent restaurants about now too, thatโs not always been the case.
