personally i think it's slightly overpriced too, i know it's not exactly a 'print' but it's still quite a chunk of cash to pay for an edition of 70. if there were 3 different colourways or perhaps a proper marilyn/poptart version to cut the edition in half then it might have made them a bit more unique.
Although d has designed them, there's not really much artist involvement in the process of making them so in effect turns them more into a piece of design rather than art.
one of my favourite pieces has to be my dface 15 years because i can see all the years of paint on the piece, the texture and a 'history' behind it. you can see other artists' mark on the paint and a stencil on the front which has been done by hand. when you see this you think more about a guy in a tatty factory and these being pumped out a machine hung on a wall and sold at too high a price with no individual involment on each one.
