Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by skAcid on Jun 9, 2018 13:17:49 GMT 1,

IF YOU DEMOLISH A SCHOOL, YOU DEMOLISH THE FUTURE.
On June 1st Israeli authorities made the final decision to demolish the Palestinian village of Khan al Ahmar along with a school built for children. This means that any moment now the Israeli government, could destroy the homes of around 180 people who have lived there for over 60 years.
Please help us to save this school and homes by signing this petition.
The "Rubber Tyre School", named as it was built on tyres as Israel limited the possibility of creating masonry buildings in the area. It was started by an Italian NGO “Vento di Terra” with the help of others. It is a place that provides hope for a future of peace for children that live in the village and the surrounding areas. It has become a symbol of the right to education and the rights of people living under occupation.
As a painter and a traveler, my art is dedicated to social justice, women’s rights, children’s rights, and the rights of people in territories facing war. I chose to start this petition and support this cause because I believe that every school, not matter what part part of the world it is in, should be a place of growth, a place of dialogue, and most importantly a place of peace.
Because of the occupation and limitations on travel, children in the village have no real alternative to education. This demolition would create a dangerous precedent and do serious damage to the local community, and it could lead to the deportation of people living there.
Every child on earth has the right to be educated, to have the means to develop their own potential, to learn about the world they live in and learn skills that will lay the foundations to give them a better future.
It's not right. It is cruel and inhumane to make voiceless children victims. I am angry because they are taking away the opportunity for these children to study, to learn, and to become better men and women.
Let’s not trample on innocent children’s right to life, freedom and education. The Rubber Tyre School is the only means they have to build a better future. Let's help them!
I'm with #TheTyreSchool. #SaveOurSchool.

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by skAcid on Jun 26, 2018 9:58:20 GMT 1, Petition Update: 25 JUN 2018
Hi! The children at The Tyre School are receiving everyday humanitarian visits from many different countries and organizations. Unfortunately this is not enough: Israel’s police keeps visiting the village of Khan Al-Ahmar, asking questions, and analyzing the spaces… as they are preparing to demolish everything within just days!
Please, let’s make our voice heard by the international institutions and let’s ask Netanyahu to change his mind to save the future of 170 children! Please follow at least 1 of the following instructions. It’s super easy to do, and we can put the decision makers under pressure.
1- Click on the following link to send a message on Twitter to the decision makers! change.org/TweetForOurSchool
2- Click on the following link to go on Benjamin Netanyahu’s Facebook page, then copy and paste in the comments area the text you find below this link:
Please do not let the demolition of #TheTyreSchool and 170 children’s dreams. Education is the path to peace #SaveOurSchool change.org/saveourschool
Thanks for all the interest.

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by skAcid on Jul 10, 2018 11:24:11 GMT 1, Petition update: 4 JULY 2018
In the last few hours we have received alarming news from Khan al Ahmar. In the last few days the military started limiting the access to the village, and yesterday orders were given to all families to leave the village. The entire site has been declared a "Military Area" starting from this Friday. This is with the aim of limiting the access to the land, in particular to press and international delegates. The village will remain closed to the outside world. This morning the military arrived with the bulldozers. Although ordered to leave the village immediately, people living there refused. The crowd blocked one of the bulldozers, facing each other.
"There are many soldiers and even various ambulances," says Giulia Schirò, country manager of Vento di Terra NGO, who came to the village this morning to check the situation. "The children continue to participate in the educational activities proposed by the teachers in the School of Tyres, despite the arrival of the bulldozers." Whilst the crowd gathered in the village of Khan al Ahmar this morning, the military shot down 15 houses and various animal shelters in nearby Abu Nwar, starting the demolition of the area. Bulldozers are continuing on their path - despite our calls. It is clear that demolition is a matter of days, if not hours. "The tension between the military and the inhabitants is growing, there are scuffles and fights, the women and the children have started to scream and cry", continues Giulia while sending us the photos of the bulldozers.
We hope for better news soon. We must continue to urge the international community and institutions to intervene against this abuse of power, while respecting the rights enshrined in the Geneva Convention.
Please help sharing this video and the petition as soon as possible: www.facebook.com/VentodiTerraONG/videos/1828864373829500 !

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by artforartssake on Sept 8, 2018 9:40:42 GMT 1, Signed and shared. The mind boggles at how actions can be twisted and justified these days.
How native Palestinian settlements can be demolished whist building new settlements for Europeans and Americans on conquered Palestinian soil is absolutely beyond me.
No wonder people seek to control the terminology and debate around the issue.

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by Chris JL on Sept 8, 2018 12:33:37 GMT 1, Just signed it. Terrible story. Sadly, not in the least surprising. Reminds me a conversation with an Israeli friend. Her explanation of why hundreds of Palestinian die for each Israeli death was that “Israeli love their children more.” I guess only theirs. This stat says it all:
And the last 3 years have been even worse: www.hrw.org/world-report/2018/country-chapters/israel/palestine

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by skAcid on Feb 27, 2019 14:04:14 GMT 1, Petition Update: 27 FEB 2019 —
The situation at Khan Al Ahmar and at the Tyre School is more dangerous than ever. Israel’s Prime Minister, Netanyahu, in several occasions declared that the demolition of the village is a priority of his Government. "Khan al-Ahmar will be demolished very soon, but I am not saying when. We are prepared for it", he said (1) in November.
But in recent weeks, he said (2) that “it would certainly help” if the Bedouin village of Khan al-Ahmar is demolished before the April elections. He’s using bedouins' lives for political matters.
A few days ago, soldiers delivered to the bedouin community a document which states that soon the village will be declared a military area. There’s no date for that, yet. But it could happen at anytime. And it will mean that villagers won’t be able to get out of Khan al Ahmar, and many children and teachers won’t be able to reach the school. International delegates have started again to visit the village. People of all kinds are showing solidarity. An example of this is the Sorbonne Professor Frank Romano, which was arrested while in the village and he started a hunger strike in order to not being forced to repatriate.
Please continue to share and sign this petition. #tyreschool #khanalahmar

Save #TheTyreSchool and it’s village in Palestine!, by skAcid on Oct 30, 2019 17:20:51 GMT 1, Petition Update: 30 AUG 2019
Firing Area - Entrance Forbidden!
Suddenly the tension in Khan al Ahmar is high again. On Wednesday the 21st August, at the entrance to the camp appeared a concrete block with a sentence defining the village as a “firing area", accompanied by a painted skull. The same warning appeared at the entrance of other Bedouin villages that are on the same motorway. It is not clear whether the action can be attributed to the Israeli army or to a private militia. This is a serious threat and we cannot accept to see anything like this close by a school. We need to share this and make institutions aware of what’s happening! In the meantime, the school year started as usual last week with 155 elementary school students and 14 kids that are in the new nursery school classroom. We need to keep them safe!
Please continue to share and sign this petition. #tyreschool #khanalahmar
