New Public Art Fund Release, by aumi on Jun 15, 2018 10:30:57 GMT 1, Good Fences Make Good Neighbors: Portrait Banners
Using the same industrial vinyl and laser-cutting technique, the new edition replicates the original banners at half scale: 17โ x 48โ. Only 500 of each banner will be available at a price of $750 per work, exclusively on eBay from June 20-27, 2018. The banners may be collected individually or as a complete series of six for $4,500, and they may be hung directly on the wall, framed, or installed perpendicular to the wall to resemble their installation in the exhibition.

Any thoughts?

New Public Art Fund Release, by Happy Shopper on Jun 17, 2018 16:48:36 GMT 1, Not as nice as the last release. I can't imagine displaying these individually, and quite a lot of cash for the set (considering unsigned and space you'd need to display them)

New Public Art Fund Release, by Express Post on Jun 18, 2018 23:23:18 GMT 1, Neither was Ai Wei Wei and Public Art Fund...which is why they only released an edition of 500 instead of 1000
If you at least get the Freud, that should be ok.
The image of the African girl looks ok too.
There were better ones than the other four selected.

Collection wise I think only the whole set makes sense... therefore, easy pass.

New Public Art Fund Release, by sfnyc on Jun 21, 2018 1:51:02 GMT 1, I m also having a hard time both liking it and rationalizing it... Ai WeiWei's art is notoriously generally bad, although the previous PAF release was very nice - that was a true exception compared to what he usually does.

This is truly one of the most moronic statements I have read on this forum. I think Sir you need to perhaps find a new hobby.

Focusing on your reference to "Ai WeiWei's art is notoriously generally bad", I would not go so far as to call this moronic. But it does come across to me as uninformed.
The statement seems based on merely a cursory awareness of:
(i) Ai Weiwei's work, its context and underlying concepts; and
(ii) how his work is broadly perceived by the art world.
__________
Here's a thread on Ai's exhibition at the Royal Academy of Arts which may assist if you wish to dig deeper:
urbanartassociation.com/thread/133239/ai-weiwei-royal-academy-arts
Given the risk of being overwhelmed with info, I recommend concentrating (in the first instance) on just one or two specific pieces.
For example, check out the installation called Straight in the link below. Read some of the background, and then see if your views on the artist remain the same afterwards:
urbanartassociation.com/post/1446956/thread
[As an aside, the RA exhibition was among my personal Top 3 shows in 2015 โ along with the V&A's Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty and Banksy's Dismaland.]

New Public Art Fund Release, by sfnyc on Jun 21, 2018 9:00:07 GMT 1, This could be an interesting discussion, And I see your point which I would tend to agree with - I meant "notoriously bad" as having been called that in the arts and in the press - not that it is a general consensus at all. I personally like the artist and his work but not all of it is that good either.
