Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by blerd on Sept 13, 2018 11:23:42 GMT 1, No offence but if you asked to buy all 8 prints perhaps they thought you were probably a flipper. I would love to know Heni's criteria on these things as they seem to have made very odd decisions. Perhaps they just tip all the forms on to a table and its a lucky dip. You were allowed to buy 8 if you wanted, or just one and say you'd be happy with any. There was no restriction on that. Edit: What's more likely is that they were only selling so many complete sets, so rather than offer just 1 or a few, they didn't offer anything. Slightly odd, but I assume they didn't have time to contact every buyer and check what they'd like instead of what they asked for. Agreed. I ticked all 4 of H4 and got offered one.

I was also quite early with submitting my AOI template on the preview night and also received the offer quite fast and that’s what I would expect tbh as a Heni invitee.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by Riotcops on Sept 13, 2018 11:35:37 GMT 1, it's crazy... not sure what the criteria is for selection. I actually offered to buy all 8 prints but have been offered nothing so far... I figured worst case they would offer me the larger spots which seem the least popular??? No offence but if you asked to buy all 8 prints perhaps they thought you were probably a flipper. I would love to know Heni's criteria on these things as they seem to have made very odd decisions. Perhaps they just tip all the forms on to a table and its a lucky dip. Agreed it does scream flipper, but at the same time someone who is keen on getting one of any of them. If they're not going to give a set, then they could still offer just one! Seems there's no method to the madness with these selects.

I knew 10 people there, and all of them have paid for theirs. So going by that it’s 100%. I queued with 3 of them and I have had no invoice, I was on the heni list. 😐 holding out..but I don’t think it looks good I was in the same situation as you, I ended up contacting the Tate and they had the wrong email. It may be worth a call.

Each application order was probably divided amongst say ten employees, each employee probably gave priority to heni applicants but if employee one processed all orders before employee ten even started, you get a late applicant getting their order before an Heni invitee.

I have been emailed this morning saying I will hear back next week, sounds like they missed me first time round. It's fine but I hope I get offered something out of the ones i made preference for. I'm giving them the chance to come good and sort it out so lets see when they get back to me. I'm sure it hasn't been the smoothest process so I will wait to hear from them.

If you requested to buy 8 (i.e. one of each) then I can understand Heni's possible suspicions.

Counting gets tricky as you start to approach those big numbers

Not really a question to you Bob. Just a general thought.

This implies an overall loss much higher than the simple $2.9 million difference. For instance, the foregone return of investing $8.1 in 2009 in the S&P500 until 2017 is about $18.4 million dollars. The total loss for those buyers is $21.3 millions for those pieces.
I hope they really liked what they bought, because the emotional dividend must be high to justify this.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by cnrdvln on Sept 13, 2018 15:50:04 GMT 1, Just on the 'priority' of Tate over Heni. We all seen how careful and orderly each application was dropped into that box. As we were all filling out the form at the desk they were asked constantly will it be in the order of the box and the answer was yes. They were all placed face down - taken out it would be first come first served.
On that assumption Heni got the preference (the lucky number who got the RSVP) and Tate members got the left overs (and discount )
Also agree that a certain number of full sets were sold before we got there ...

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by Deleted on Sept 13, 2018 15:59:17 GMT 1, I'm not surprised that auction resale prices have been low. I seem to remember that all the major art critics considered Hirst's work in the auction “Beautiful Inside My Head Forever” to be rather poor and uninspiring. But then art prices always have been more about 'fashion' than artistic worth.

So that makes perfect sense... yet what people are saying and experiencing contradicts the numbers we got...

They were all placed face down - taken out it would be first come first served. On that assumption Heni got the preference (the lucky number who got the RSVP) and Tate members got the left overs (and discount ) Also agree that a certain number of full sets were sold before we got there ... I know that I was the first one (HENI queue) to fill out a form and my Tate receipt is HLD-001. Not sure if everyones is that number also. The number of the print I have been allocated is in the 50s. Interesting... i was def in the top 10 application in Heni and my invoice numbers matched that with HLD in the low teens So that makes perfect sense... yet what people are saying and experiencing contradicts the numbers we got...

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by shinkaiser on Sept 13, 2018 16:21:43 GMT 1, Just on the 'priority' of Tate over Heni. We all seen how careful and orderly each application was dropped into that box. As we were all filling out the form at the desk they were asked constantly will it be in the order of the box and the answer was yes. They were all placed face down - taken out it would be first come first served. Your reasoning makes perfect sense. However, that is not what appears to have happened in practice. Some Heni members that queued up on the night got nothing. I'm not on the Heni list and did not attend the event...and I got my first choice. exactly. This is what happened with me and H4. The equivalent would have been applying 2 weeks after and getting my first choice. Who knows what happened to the 'perfectly placed applications' after the shop event. For all we know they gave them to a low paid intern who had shitload to get through and didn't give a toss about order of priority.
