I don’t get why these guys don’t just try with me. They are obviously emailing the wrong customers. I wonder what their criteria is.

Is it to do with the way they are being sold? Easy for popular prints to sell out if sold by a buy button on a website. But here they are being offered to people who express a desire to buy. They can’t offer more than they have. Inevitably some who said they were interested will then have a change of heart. So the remaining ones have to be offered again. I don’t know, but this is what I thought might be happening.

Yeah I guess so but would have thought we have been through 3 or 4 rounds of selling by now so I’m really not sure why they still have remaining stock! Maybe just not that popular?

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by ARN on Feb 9, 2019 21:22:28 GMT 1, It’s probably because we have no which ones are still available. People probably choose the most popular as their only choices - if you put them all you risk getting one you are not so keen on (there deff are more popular ones).
I imagine in this situation it will take a while to luckily line up buyers with remaining stock.

I think it’s just a really backward way of selling things. Surely it’s a massive waste of resources selling items in this manner, it’s not 1950. I think If they went up all at once on a website they would sell in seconds and there would be none of this bank transfer nonsense either. I know people who haven’t been invited to purchased while I hear other people have been invited multiple times, the whole thing seems like a bloody shamozzle.

Damien Hirst H4 • Veils, by nik2000 on Feb 9, 2019 23:43:29 GMT 1, i’ve emailed these time wasters many times, as a serious buyer, and they’ve yet to properly get back to me.
a very weird way of selling, and, if designed to stop resellers, it clearly isn’t working anyway.

I certainly wasn’t suggesting it was the best way to sell them, merely trying to contribute to the discussion as to why there are still some for sale. I’ve yet to figure out the fairest way of selling prints where demand exceeds supply. Bun fight favours particular time zones, internet speeds and bots. Lottery favours those prepared to set up numerous email addresses. In person only favours those in particular locations. There will always be people who are disappointed.

Seems wasteful at best?

No worries. I didn’t see your comment as confrontational. I was merely enjoying the discussion. I agree with you, this does seem a hugely labour intensive way of selling the prints. I can only imagine that they think that they are doing their best to get the prints in the hands of collectors and not speculators. In case anyone is wondering, I have no skin in this game. I neither own, nor do I want to buy, an H5.

Very possible that I’ve lost track but there was the Phillips which was H4-1, and then Forum Auctions and Christies of H4-3
