FAILE - 2003 - PoW - signed Mermaid print, by emlu on Jul 11, 2018 13:15:26 GMT 1, Hi I stumbled across this forum while looking for some info so have joined as you have such a huge knowledge I’m hoping you can help. I’ve got a 2003 Faile PoW Marmaid print. It’s signed and part of an edition of 150 prints but I can’t find any details about it. Everything I see is about the later run of 750 prints or the hand finished ornate ones. Does anyone know anything about this edition? I like it and want to keep it but my partner is not convinced though I’m hoping to win the argument! I’m guessing this is from PoW’s early days. Also what is going on with The War on Terror writing? Were Faile pro the war or anti it? Would love to know some more background. Thanks for any help you can give!

Looks like same run just some are signed, most are not.
"The war against terror has never looked better. This print is so large it is guaranteed to cover almost any stain you may have made on your bedroom wall,"
£64.99 edition of 750.
Numbers 1-100 signed by the artist - £150

FAILE - 2003 - PoW - signed Mermaid print, by emlu on Jul 11, 2018 16:10:11 GMT 1, That was quick thanks! Mine is a print run of 150 though not 750 so I think it is a sperate one from 2003. The listing on the art collector.com website where it says printed 2003 to 2009 I’m assuming there would have been more than 1 run in that time? Also any verdict on failes view on the war on terror? Thanks

FAILE - 2003 - PoW - signed Mermaid print, by Philippe on Jul 11, 2018 16:39:23 GMT 1, Hi Emlu, welcome to the board. The mermaid prints released by POW are an edition of 750. The first 150 were signed and the remaining 600 are unsigned. The signed portion was only marked out of 150 and the unsigned out of 600. Hope this clarifies it for you. It's a classic print. Their secondary market is a bit all over the place so tough to give you a valuation. Best bet is to try a print auction or ebay. Faile is anti terror, they would use imagery of dictators and verbiage in their works to bring attention to the acts of horror these monsters participated in.

FAILE - 2003 - PoW - signed Mermaid print, by emlu on Jul 13, 2018 20:02:44 GMT 1, Thanks Philipe, That’s really helpful and interesting. It’s just meant to be the first 100 of the 750 that we’re signed though so I think this must have been an earlier print run. I’ll try and attach a photo of it later. People have so many different opinions on the war against terror that it’s good to know more about what the artists might have thought especially considering it’s from an American perspective back in the early 2000’s. Thanks again and all the best
