I wonder what would have happened if you'd just sent the money to him via PayPal immediately after the auction ended. All Banksy prints have been released either through POW or Lazinc. BME is no exception, and was originally released by POW - except at the time they were called PYMCA.
Although the prints originated from POW, it's possible they could have been originally sold from a number of places - including Tom Tom, Art Republic, Green Leaf Bookshop, Tate Modern, Selfridges & Eat my Handbag Bitch.
