He’s a precious little soul.. Doesn’t stop the truth though does it? He works for eBay now.. Crazy when you think he’s been in this game from day one.. I’d be worth a trillion pounds at this point.. what happened? Flipped all his banksys to early? My heart bleeds for him 😂 ban away! trying to buy and sell on here is fucking painful and its hardly a place to learn anything... 😵 You're just a massive opinionated troll who can't take any of his own medicine... from what I can tell, that is.

I'm thinking of selling my conservation framed signed colour Trolleys. Mint condition other than the framing. Based in London.
Some help on value would be good.

Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by andypandy on Dec 10, 2020 22:14:13 GMT 1,
When someone comes on here to sell something and is also looking for a price they effectively want us to be the buyer and the seller. It really isn’t difficult to work out how much something is worth when you post links to Banksy-Value (which has been heavily manipulated with the air of dishonesty surrounding recent auction results) it doesn't really help give a true reflection of what the seller should expect to get.
The prices that Banksy-Value publish are on average 20% higher than what the seller would receive. However they also advertise that they are looking to purchase prints for Hammer minus fees (funny considering most auctions don't charge seller comms for Banksy prints) Also lets not forget that by selling your artwork at an Auction house or by consigning with a gallery, can also leave you with a paper trail for potential Capital Gains Tax or equivalent (which does not suit some sellers)
The way I see it is that if someone wanted to sell it on here, firstly they should be able to know how much they want for it and secondly, be willing to sell it for average Hammer price (not hammer plus fees)
Im looking to buy Coloured Trollies and Sale ends and have a budget of £50-£53k on either of them..... I recently bought something at Auction and paid £55k (seller got £45-£46k) but if I had tried to offer that for it I would be laughed at. So what is fair? Hammer price? At the very most Hammer plus a few points

Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by JFCC on Dec 10, 2020 22:27:57 GMT 1, The price quoted is Hammer price + buyers premium + VAT + ARR so hammer price on both was about £70k.
The spread of prices from £40k - 96k this year make it hard to value - £55k - 65k seems about right as it is a big series of 750, but that's just my view!

Banksy Value is a mathematical formula Hammer + Buyers premium + VAT + ARR. On a print under £50k its 34% unless its at Sothebys where its 35% or Bonhams which is £34% + £250 as the first 10K is at 30%. Not sure where the dishonesty is?
Actually Banksy Value as sellers are pretty good and very straight forward.
Sellers do still get asked for a sales commission of 5% (or more) at most auction houses although most people can reduce that and some can even get a reverse premium if they have enough pieces to sell or something of real exclusivity.
AS for CGT if the Inland Revenue want to investigate you they will ask for your bank account details, the banks themselves are also required by law to inform the HMRC of any unusually large deposits in to a customers bank account, they may even ask you for what it is so the paper trail point is erroneous. Its all covered in the provisions for money laundering so my advice do not even bother trying to not pay CGT you will get caught as your Bank will have already tipped them off!
Pricing wise most private sellers are savvy enough to know that a good price is less than all done at auction but more than hammer, so somewhere in the middle and based on a sensible average of the last few auction prices.

I have bought a few pieces on the forum all somewhere all between Hammer price and Fees. Both sides have been happy.
If i choose to sell via a gallery or at auction Im going to get less than if i sell privately. Sellers on here have to be both realistic and reasonable as do the buyers.

I thought buying and selling was simple rather than trying to make rules and guidelines.

Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by Rubberneck on Dec 11, 2020 11:41:34 GMT 1, I would only be selling for auction final value + to factor in the next 6 months /1 year price rise.
The buyer can moan or go elsewhere ... the prices will only go up.

Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by fusion0001 on Dec 11, 2020 12:00:03 GMT 1, Banksy-Value (which has been heavily manipulated with the air of dishonesty surrounding recent auction results) I post full realized prices with all fees and VAT on the site and this is clearly stated everywhere possible. If I posted hammer prices I would get the same feedback but from the sellers. So please don’t accuse me of manipulating unless there are facts. If you want to discuss or make suggestion to methodology I am happy to take the input.
PS. Private market prices depend a lot on the print and can be ranging from below recent hammer to above recent full result. But "somewhere between hammer and full price" is good rule of thumb. One-off results also dont mean that the print has immediately gone up.
Banksy-Value (which has been heavily manipulated with the air of dishonesty surrounding recent auction results) I post full realized prices with all fees and VAT on the site and this is clearly stated everywhere possible. If I posted hammer prices I would get the same feedback but from the sellers. So please don’t accuse me of manipulating unless there are facts. If you want to discuss or make suggestion to methodology I am happy to take the input. PS. Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by The Italian One on Dec 11, 2020 12:03:02 GMT 1, a fair price point for both seller and buyer should be hammer plus 10% of average price on the last 3 auction.
with all the risk involved in a private sale I would rather sell with an auction house.

Banksy • Trolley Hunters Coloured , by RoboJ on Dec 11, 2020 13:58:16 GMT 1, It’s the same as everything. It’s worth as much as somebody will pay for it. If the seller is asking more than anyone will pay then it won’t sell. If they will accept less than the value it will be snapped up and have multiple buyers interested.
If somebody offered my 95k for mine I’d rather keep it. Doesn’t mean anything other than I’d rather not sell it for that.

Why would you get the same feedback from sellers? If you're posting the hammer price, then that would be an indicator of what a seller should expect to get? If they sell at Auction that would be the marker... If you are running a site where prospective auction buyers use it as a guideline, thats one thing, but you are also buying and selling prints directly through this site yourself so surely you would want to buy them at a price which allows you to turn a profit.
When you’re buying, do you offer the seller hammer price minus fees as advertised? Or do you offer them Hammer plus more as you’re concerned about them complaining? Come on now...lets not take us simpleton forum members as complete idiots.
I think that you have put together a really decent database and I am not looking for an argument about it. I am a collector and have been for years. I have items which may go up or down in value.
I just feel that it would be more transparent and forthcoming to publish the Hammer prices along with the final sales price. People on this forum should be able to see the prices that the seller received just as much as the prices that the buyer paid. I have lost count of the amount of times where someone has sent me a screenshot from Banksy Value on something I am looking to buy and said “This is what it’s worth” Thats absolute bollocks and we all know that the item is only worth what someone is willing to pay.
Private sales are difficult to manage at this level and people will often go to Auction to get that guarantee (which we have also seen can sometimes go wrong). Some auction results are also rather suspect and it really doesn't take a lot for them to be manipulated. If you or anyone else on here thinks for one minute that some auctions aren’t fixed then I would say, that is being a bit naive. Its been going on for years.
Also selling signed or even unsigned prints without COA at auction is an accident waiting to happen. I have been offered prints without COAs at significantly less than the average price from current results. I would never buy a print from an Auction without one. But I would buy one privately that I can view in person, communicate directly with the seller and liaise with PCO about the provenance etc
