I'm sure there were trials & tribulations along the way, but what a result.
& the journey you & your wife have been on throughout the build must be completely satisfying.
Then you look back at the site photos from start to finish, & you realise you have created something outstanding.

All good mate, happy to answer.
We went single storey for a few reasons. The main two being that we both prefer wide frontage homes, and we have the land that allows a larger footprint. And yes, foundation cost is less than double storey.
Quality control, at least in my State (it may differ in other parts of Australia), all happens before construction and then once complete. Prior, the homed design has to pass an energy rating, meet bushfire ratings etc. Afterwards, you receive certificates for each stage of the build as well as certs for water sealing, insulation, etc.
Once the initial design is done its all pretty easy going.
