Is it dangerous to post pictures of your art, house car, by irl1 on Sept 28, 2018 16:18:51 GMT 1, Just insure it all, and then you don't have to worry? The missing items are fine you can replace them. Its when they break in and you wake up or they try to rob you while your out and you come home, or worse your family come home without you.
Its just all too easy for anyone to find out where you live e.t.c. You really do need to think about what you post anywhere, be it here F.B or any of them other sites.

Agreed, and it's why I don't post a ton of stuff on the web! That being said, I do think we "worry" too much.

Its just all too easy for anyone to find out where you live e.t.c. You really do need to think about what you post anywhere, be it here F.B or any of them other sites. Ok, lets take this in another direction
As we all know people have been robbing houses and stealing cars since well before social media.
Yes of course it can make peoples lives easier to find something they really want
as an example
I want to steal a yo yo, let me go to instagram and type in yo yo, and then find an image, locate that yo yo and steal it.
I would like to suggest that above is quite a rare occurrence?
However if I steal a tv that I can find in any house and sell it i can buy a yo yo of my choice
What percentage?
If i had to guess i would say out of every 1000 house burglaries, 990 are opportunists, walking the streets looking for the easy hit. If they fancy your house, or it looks like an easy entry/ exit, then you are on their radar.
If however you have cameras, bell boxes, dogs, good locks, then I would say you have improved your odds of not being burgled?

junkies, organised gangs of scum blitzing areas
Do You think anyone in those links were robbed because they posted stuff about themselves on the internet?
yes, i know that by putting a picture up of my car, i increase the chance of it getting stolen
but by having it sat on my drive the chance of it getting stolen is higher
You are of course right in what you say, posting pics of valuable stuff can increase risk. By how much, i don't know?

Is it dangerous to post pictures of your art, house car, by galaxy01 on Sept 28, 2018 21:08:52 GMT 1, Well yes, but that one time you bought a HDMI cable from Amazon - someone has your address, your postman has seen inside your windows. He is more likely the reason you got broken in to than someone guessing your exact house from a few photos of art inside your house on a forum. Anytime you buy something from someone on eBay they could be a criminal. Just because you show photos are art does not mean you are opening up to something that is not already happening. Plus, who is running off with a 10kg 120x90 framed print without anyone noticing? Surely its easier to just walk past a rich neighbourhood and pick a house, steal smaller things.
Meh, I think people worry a huge amount when they post a few photos, yet a vast amount of people could easily know what you own and where you live without watching you post on a forum or on facebook. If someone is looking to rob someone, they will, regardless of who it is and what they have, just secure your house and stop worrying - only so much you can do/.
Putting a 10k print in clear view from a window and sharing photos of it still means breaking in to your house, yet people leave keys to a 10k car in the house when out and dont even think about it - yet the fact your car is there and no one answers your door is much easier than deciphering where you took a photo.

Now there are some good people, they are the ones that will usually stay quiet and give positive support or post warm wishes to the members or PM thanks and support.... But then there are LOSERS that enjoy trying hurt and humiliate others.... these are low life scum that troll and get their kicks out of posting negative trash... They are the LOSERS in life that are UNSUCCESSFUL. They envy everyone else and don't have two cents to rub together Best to ignore these animals and just move on....
You’re obviously a very wealthy guy with your cars and your art
And you right in to community feel and support
Why don’t you head over to T-Bro’s art raffle in aid of a 6 year old with cancer and throw in a few quid
