A Banksy Painting 'Self-Destructed' Sold for $1.1Million, by bonesy on Oct 6, 2018 12:43:42 GMT 1, Are people not bag searched entering these places like in museums and exhibitions? Leave your car key fob at the entrance and retrieve on your way out?
Do you think that electrical device in the pic above is needed to trigger a paper shredder device? Admittedly, I know nothing about electronics but I’m sure a simple small button like a car key fob could carry out the job. That thing above looks like an audio recorder of some sort with a microphone to me.

A Banksy Painting 'Self-Destructed' Sold for $1.1Million, by Winks on Oct 6, 2018 13:34:04 GMT 1, Pokes fun at the art buying elite who he sells art to. Laughed at by regular art fans who he claims to represent but has stopped selling art to. Endless ironies I`m pretty sure Pest Control is still busy with the COA requests for the 500 GBP Sale ends. And he`s selling art in Bethlehem at affordable prices.
He’s not been any where near most of the Bethlehem tat

A Banksy Painting 'Self-Destructed' Sold for $1.1Million, by Lroy on Oct 6, 2018 14:51:15 GMT 1, If the auction house isn’t in on it how does a man with a remote control electrical device get past security? Because all has been done previously with helps. Now this girl with balloon, moaning as explained Met, has tripled its value.

I love this! However, I'm failing to see how a bunch of exacto blades attached to a board are supposed to shred a canvas. Especially with the blades attached sideways. Doesn't seem like you'd be able to get the canvas through the blades in a way that they would actually shred the canvas as seen in the video.

Err.
Nobody will make me shut up apart death. Just joking with you Baal. But... We can still talk even with the fingers on a keyboard , incredible no ?

Did you see all the other gubbins in there? Does it seem so far fetched that someone with access to plenty of funds and time could do this? Not exactly rocket science.

You wouldn’t really need that much time or money. It’s a fairly simple machine. The video showing the inside was proberly part of the theatre of it all.

I agree that it could be done fairly easily. Just the type of blades used in that video and the way they were positioned seems like it would be difficult for that setup to actually shred a canvas. There's a reason paper shredders use the type of blades that they use. Seems like the easiest thing to do would be to repurpose a standard paper shredder.

A Banksy Painting 'Self-Destructed' Sold for $1.1Million, by Icesay on Oct 6, 2018 18:52:40 GMT 1, In my opinion the canvas is being pulled down and around by a roller with a puller mechanism and the shredded paper is being fed down by the same mechanism. But what do I know. The angle is masking the print to shred alignment.

Agree ! Anyway, this is not really an “ anartchist “ act, rather a performance prepared with professionalism, even the stencil itself as described by met some stairs up this thread. Did Dadaists acts were so well thought ? I don’t think so, more spontaneous I presume ( and now all pass by video media and pictures ) ... Now this GWRB has Tripled its value. Banksy known that I guess.

They look the part and at a glance most people would think it’s a machine for shredding of some sort. The way it comes out the frame suggests it passed through the edge of the blade.
