Firstly I am in no way defending violence against women in any capacity so please don't get it twisted.
My point here is this. You really have no idea what went on in that room.
Think about this for a second - Who's to say that she didn't lose the plot completeley and fly at him in a rage trying to rip his face off - he pushes her away and she inadvertantly falls off the bed onto the coffee table? or trips as she is running at him? or any other myriad of circumstances that could have led to this injury? Yet people just presume that Retna just smacked her round the face with his fist?
Based on recent reports about her and we know his history it also seems apparant that they both have some serious issues around booze.
So yes not defending anyone here but without being inside that room with them I don't think it's entirely fair to judge and jury the situation.

she had shards of a broken bottle across her face/scalp and a black eye. he was arrested and they settled out of court. one look at the evidence (and the dude's instagram), and i know who i believe.
the fact that he has allegedly assaulted multiple other people, and that multiple individuals have restraining orders against him, doesn't really help his case either.
yes, no one knows what happened in that room besides the two of them. we can make educated guesses. i personally think retna being the attacker is more plausible than brittny gastineau falling off a bed head-first onto a glass bottle and punching herself in the face. from what i can tell, retna never even claimed that she sustained the injuries in any other way, just that it was a 'mutual fight' and that he also sustained injuries.

I think this the problem though. We just presume that the man is the attacker? Because it's more plausable?
Why is it more plausable?
Why is it not plausable that she attacked him first?
Ok i'm going to write something here that i've been meaning to for some time.

I'm not defending violence against women, what I'm saying is her injuries could have been caused when he tried to prevent her from hurting him or avoided her or tried to get her off him (not that i'm saying punching a woman is ok if you think they are going to attack you) or she could have fallen while they struggled.
If you conclude that that is violence against women then thats up to you, but in no way am I saying it's ok to hit women or be violent towards them in any way. Well unless they are trying to kill you. Not that thats what I'm saying here.
But also I am fully aware to the fact that it is entirely possible that Retna could have punched her in the face for no reason at all.
I have just not completely made up my mind (and possibly never will) that this is what happeded and that doesn't mean I am defending violence against women.
AAAAAAnnnnyway I knew this would end with me trying to defend myself...not sure why I bothered.

Check some data, please. Itโs a sobering reality check (for the ones willing to learn something at least).
Personally, I had no idea, but Iโm done with Retna. Heโs beyond the boundaries of what I consider civil in our time, hence his work has no interest for me anymore.

Either way ; from a branding view point it's a very bad decision to endorse Retna. Especially with this product. BEATS by Dre. And you find an artist with a reputation to BEAT his girl friend. Really?
Stupid marketing by Apple. Which has a reputation to hold high.

Was before you became a member though. So maybe do some research before calling people names.
Before Eine's incident I was actually looking to buy some of his pieces. Not anymore.
Can't afford Retna anyway, so not much to boycot there. But BEATS by Retna was just too stupid to let go by.

Either way ; from a branding view point it's a very bad decision to endorse Retna. Especially with this product. BEATS by Dre. And you find an artist with a reputation to BEAT his girl friend. Really? Stupid marketing by Apple. Which has a reputation to hold high. Totally agree, but Dr.Dre himself is well known for (I think) 3 physical attacks against woman and he still made this 3.2 billion USD deal with Apple. It wasn'tยดt before 2017 that he really gave a statement and apologized...

Retna + DJ Khaled + Beats by Dr Dre, by Chris JL on Oct 13, 2018 1:02:15 GMT 1, cmc : Reality check - and why we should believe women much more than we do.
Four times as many women as men are killed by a current or former partner (ONS, 2001-2013)
In 2013-14, 93% of defendants in domestic violence court cases were male and 84% of victims were female (CPS Violence Against Women and Girls Crime Report, 2014).
89% of all those who had experienced 4 or more incidents of domestic violence were women (Domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking: Findings from the British Crime Survey, Sylvia Walby and Jonathan Allen, 2004)
One in five women and one in 71 men will be raped at some point in their lives (Black, M. C. et al (2011)). Or to put it slightly differently, 91% of the victims of rape and sexual assault are female, and 9% are male (Rennison, C. A. (2002)).
Nearly one in 10 women has been raped by an intimate partner in her lifetime, including completed forced penetration, attempted forced penetration or alcohol/drug-facilitated completed penetration. (Breiding, M. J. et al (2014)).
