Nice work. I’ve got a load of VHS tapes at home - any chance you could pop over and ‘fix them’ into Blu-rays?

New BANKSY stall, by Chris JL on Nov 6, 2018 22:44:47 GMT 1, I'm glad we have moved the debate on from occupied territories to dpi and pixels. Hang up your hat Banksy, your work here is done 🙄 I thought it was mainly an art forum not a political one?
Banksy IS political. As large part of good art (of any form).

New BANKSY stall, by slevin on Nov 6, 2018 22:45:54 GMT 1, Hi mate,( I ‘ve been already to f**koff ) but your links does not show all the poster, only the top .,. I m not complete It is intentional, you can have a huge square banksy on the wall without the text. That image is 83x83 cm and wont pixelate At 72dpi it will pixellate and won't look good at 83cm. It would need to be printed at roughly 20x20cm to look decent.

New BANKSY stall, by rockbeer on Nov 6, 2018 22:51:10 GMT 1, Oh good grief.
Just to clarify, for anyone who’s interested, though I doubt anyone is:
Resolution is measured in dots per inch = DPI = PPI = pixels per inch. It’s just maths - the number of ‘physical’ pixels / dots contained in the image (each dot being a discrete unit of colour information) divided by the perceived ‘size’ of the printed or displayed image.
A digital image has a finite and fixed number of pixels - this value is established when the image is created and is not a variable. Resolution is a variable - it can be adjusted depending on the display device or desired scale of the printed image, but realistically only within the limits imposed by the actual pixel count. Resolution can be increased or reduced at will by squeezing the pixels closer together or spacing them apart, but this doesn’t change the actual number of pixels - the amount of colour information - contained in the image.
Resolution and pixel ‘size’ therefore depend entirely on the output device. A screen has (generally) bigger pixels than a printer - and the resolution of an image can easily be adusted so it looks as good as possible on either of these or any other given device. Which is not to say it can be made to look good, only as good as possible, since whether it can be reproduced successfully on a given device depends ultimately on the overall pixel dimensions.
Any enlargement of the image involves either making each pixel bigger (by adjusting the DPI - which tends to make it look increasingly pixellated the further you go), or increasing the total number of pixels in the image, which can only be done by interpolation i.e. software guessing what colour each new pixel should be, based on the colour of the surrounding pixels. Similarly, a real reduction in image size involves software choosing pixels to discard.
Either way, quality is reduced. To a point, minor enlargements and reductions are basically undetectable, but anyone who says a 2480 px x 3507 px image can be printed at A0 scale with no significant pixellation or degradation in quality is delusional or, more likely, having you on. It might look good, or it might be fine for your purposes, or you might happen to like it, but it definitely won’t look the way the original image was intended to look.
Oh good grief.

The downloadable poster from the Banksy site is an A4 print (21x29.7cm) at the proper print resolution (300dpi). Go any larger and you will see a loss in quality.

New BANKSY stall, by Chris JL on Nov 6, 2018 23:10:47 GMT 1, Btw, I’ve notice an odd thing about the print: the image is not at the centre of the page ie the one below has more space at the top than at the bottom. Furthermore, different images are off center in a different way (I’ve got mine in the morning, my partner got one in the evening, and comparing the two the difference is quite noticeable).
PS sorry for the reflection - I’ve already popped it into a sleeve.

Yes, I started out saying that about 10 pages back.
Some people take a lot of convincing.
Should be okay up to about A3 - bigger than that, it’s going to get sketchy.

Don’t have it at hand at the moment, but a few millimetres difference between the prints. And already the (crappy phone) image above has much more white at the bottom than at the top.

It means one thing : these posters has been done and printed quickly - maybe not at he same time - from the same link that Banksy generously put on its website. Now, how people having the real one ( or the flippers ) will could show and prove the « authenticity » of their poster ? To put a pic of the rubber band 😂 😂 😂 in the pic 2 !!! Ahahah !!

Indeed. But one print has 2mm less than the other on top and, on the same print, I just realised that one side has 3mm more white than the other... (the total space is 1cm on one side and 0.7cm on the other).
I think Lroy is right: these were printed (or at least cut) quite in a hurry (and since the beginning, since my print was picked up early in the morning).
Or maybe it’s just designed to send your framer crazy 😊
