Paco Pomet ๐ช๐ธ Granada, Spain โข New Paintings , by mandelbrot on Nov 19, 2015 13:35:15 GMT 1, That's some useful info right there! does not really make sense as it depends on the cost of the printing as well. based on this, 150 should be ยฃ40 each. each was probably around ยฃ10 to print as well There's a lot of variables in there for sure. Doing the maths I don't think that it adds up for most of the prints I've bought but could help as an indicator!

Personally I think that kind of message is brought out more artistically in pejac's works (Somehow I see some similarities between them). Well, I know that's all subjective but...

Not considering your two Jeff Gillete prints on eBay that had/have a ยฃ750 BIN price for each one. If you've had a change of heart I'm sure a few members here would buy at cost or a touch above..

The image chosen to release could also be better considering the market he is popular in now. (that is the urban/street at market) Maybe he did not consider that? We are a different animal aren't we ;-)

Paco is fairly well established, we're the new audience with regards to his presence at Dismaland I think the print will sell out pretty swiftly but that's only a personal opinion, I certainly don't think he's killed his own hype, again that's a personal opinion...

Paco Pomet ๐ช๐ธ Granada, Spain โข New Paintings , by cyberkid on Nov 19, 2015 15:27:32 GMT 1, at the end of the day...i think its ok. his market value is rising. it is unpossible to get any originals. the last show in kobenhagen was a killer. everything was sold in minutes...no chance to get anything. now the coming show in naples - the first in usa. the prices will go north...look at neo rauch :-o same surrealism. the forum is great - love it - but we are not making the market prices... ;-)
but no doubt, an edition of 150 is too big !!

Think it's great if he is old and still creating art , shows passion and keeps the mind active ;-)especially with his surreal concepts . Can't put people in boxes . ยฃ500 is high compared to the last releases but then they didn't have the interest the show has gained and this will be only the fourth print released? Doubt many artist would keep at last years prices when their work is now on an international stage . There's artists on here that have not been involved in a show of this stance and their work is lower grade yet edition sizes double and prices increase on each edition ? The paco internacional was released in 4 different price stages as of the interest of the show . Think the main point is originals , too much emphasis on a artist talent if a print sells out ? We"ll see in a few weeks ;-)

Saying a place is "the foremost fine arts museum in Southwest Florida" is like saying you have the foremost polar bear exhibit in the sahara.

A few think like this for some reason ?
When I first starting collecting was prints and got caught up in the hype and there were a few guys posting regular praise prior to print releases ;-) vested interests , but now originals ,when I can ;-)

And you would assume he would like to keep riding that wave.. And in my opinion he made his wave a bit more difficult to ride.. for him and us.

This is the worst of his works I've seen. Much prefer his other works.

Paco Pomet ๐ช๐ธ Granada, Spain โข New Paintings , by lee3 on Nov 19, 2015 17:43:26 GMT 1, I loved this painting and it was my favorite in the curated gallery at Dismal. Interesting comments above as I've never heard the proposed rule of print edition proceeds equating to price of a painting from the same artist. I just crunched out a few different examples on a calculator and there doesn't seem to be much fact in that claim which is not to be argumentative.
As for Paco paintings, you can still pick them up with ease or at least you could as little as 3 weeks ago at any of the 3 galleries on his site. Lastly, I adore thick brushstroke paintings. '60s Thiebaud and early Ramos from the same and Paco has the same painterly way about his works. They were strikingly lit and came to life at Dismal. But, I've never seen an artist convey thick brushstrokes to a 2 dimensional print effectively which is not meant to discredit anything but rather just an observation I've had time and time again. Those early prints from Thiebaud and Ramos command a precious sum but they always leave me flat- no pun. But when you see those paintings in a museum, they pulse to life and command a deeper response. I haven't seen the print for the cookie monster work but having seen the painting, I cautiously wonder how that translates and would have the same concern for this too. Amazing painting though at least to my eyes.
I loved this painting and it was my favorite in the curated gallery at Dismal. It's a ยฃ500 print for an edition of 150 , comparing to Stik baby at ยฃ500 for edition 25 total 100 that now sells for up to ยฃ3000 ? More visual content and talking point in the rojo? But each has their own views and likes.
The new print is on thick board like the internacional print

I wish i could afford a piece of his, but already on his second 'big' release and already way out of reach for me...

Paco Pomet ๐ช๐ธ Granada, Spain โข New Paintings , by randomname on Nov 19, 2015 18:06:45 GMT 1, Are you saying that it's a rule of thumb that the total price of an edition should equate to the price of an original? Its been explained to me before from reputable printers that it is a general rule of thumb if you dont know how to price an edition, or an artist is looking for a way to value an edition. I am sure every printer has their own way of doing things, although I use the formula though for myself as it makes sense. I've heard this before on a couple of occasions. It's my impression that's how prints have been priced historically. Today, I don't think it holds true. I think there's enough demand for prints to drive the overall price of the edition well over the price of the original.
Take some of the recent FAILE prints for example. $500 for editions of 500 works out to $250k. To be fair, I haven't priced an original from them lately, but my gut tells me it's quite a bit less. I could be wrong.
That said, this feels like a ยฃ250 print to me. The idea doesn't feel particularly fresh or original.

300 prints at ยฃ350 would make his OG's ยฃ105k. No way near...don't think many artists follow that rule.
Conor Harringtons recent releases go the other way, the print run doesnt equal on OG.

Totally agree. I actually like the piece it's just the price
