Pejac - Love Letter, by Ruggs on Dec 4, 2018 13:00:56 GMT 1, Judging by some of the comments on here I think some people who are not really creative, have a creative job or pastime appreciate the hard work that's gone into this piece.

Probably the same people that complain when they missed out on a print with an edition of 80. But now complain it's a time released piece, which everyone can obtain.
Or the "problem" you can only display one side at a time. That's not even considered a First World Problemโฆ.
Booohooo, the signature is at the back.... Yeah, check your street art canvasses (if you have any)

Pejac - Love Letter, by pada1 on Dec 4, 2018 13:18:46 GMT 1, Even it seems that the majority of posts are giving a negative note to the Love Letter, I really appreciate the sharing of opinion. This release clearly divides people, for the good or bad reasons, nonetheless it generated some kind of debate.
For the few complaining about the flipping opportunity... believe me, you will find many on eBay that will also find buyers, now or later. I don't condone the practice, but I don't see anything that would stop it. The release will remain limited and time will tell if Pejac remains as successful as he became, if not more.
... counting the hours now, and still hesitating to purchase or not. I am sure more posts on this thread will help me to figure out if the love of the artwork will overcome the discomfort generated by the price asked.

Or perhaps we have been used to consider the limited attribute of Art as a primary decision making argument?

Or perhaps we have been used to consider the limited attribute of Art as a primary decision making argument? 600 or rather 700 pounds is quite an amount for many people. But it enables the artist to make a top quality piece, which will still be obtainable for a lot of people. And a price of 700 will keep the edition within limits, which will be a good thing on the long term.
You will have a real Pejac piece for 700 quid. Guaranteed. Any other Pejac print is more then double or triple that. It doesn't need any expensive framing. And doesn't take up a whole wall either.
So, if you love it and can afford it ; buy it. If you don't like it, move on. If you can't afford it, you won't be able to afford any Pejac. A Forest mini-print looks nice.

Pejac - Love Letter, by Rouen Cathedral on Dec 4, 2018 13:38:36 GMT 1, Why does everyone keep calling it an envelope?
Banksys peckham post card is argued as an original work. His morotized boat an original sculpture. Kaws plush's as fine art and his dolls as fine sculptures.
Yet here we have a hand made folded piece of paper and everyone wants to reduce it.
Your bias is showing through with comments like that.
Oh and that billion dollar Leonardo. Just a burlap sack!

There will be a good lot of people who won't have the cash spare with the Christmas coming up. If you really think about it your getting two pieces of art for the price of one.
Yes its a little pricey for the size but i think there will be a few kicking themselves come the new year.
Flip it (sorry for the pun) around in the frame every few months and it will feel like you have two works of art. Maybe he could have left the envelope open and make a bigger flat piece with both sides showing.

Pejac - Love Letter, by kuni on Dec 4, 2018 14:49:26 GMT 1, Serious question incoming.... Would it be that much harder to actually sketch each piece? Itโs small, not too much detail and looks like it would be a bastard to line up for the printing. So this is exactly what I was preparing to write. I like it, albeit I won't be purchasing it because I don't have the spare cash laying around with xmas coming up. But, like you said, hand drawing each of the characters would have taken this piece to another level for me. It would have made what's already a hand crafted piece that much more unique. I would have had a difficult time not pulling the trigger, even at a few hundred $ more, if they'd been hand sketched.

Pejac - Love Letter, by Dive Jedi on Dec 4, 2018 15:00:51 GMT 1, So, for anyone that doesn't like the Love Letter or can't afford it.
I just found this in a dumpster this morning. Painted it. Looks pretty cool now. This will be time released tomorrow as well. Pre-orders possible to avoid the crowd. Several different sharks available. GPB 75 + shipping UK 10 / USA 25.
* Needs no framing * Ready to display * Both sides can be seen - AT THE SAME TIME (Pay attention, Pejac) * You can have your signature anywhere you want - maximum of 3 * Will double in value overnight and every night, since it's not worth anything * Very affordable * Extremely cool - it might even make you a bit cool (no guarantees)
ORDER NOW !

I know a lot of people have waxed poetically about the price and such, but for me, it is not the price or the open edition or the open edition time duration. It is about the piece. While I have no doubt of the ingenuity or the hard work that went into this, it is the fact that it is an envelope on a wall with magnets. Just not my style.
Had Pejac done an open edition print for 700 quid, I probably would have bought (again, depending on the picture) because I do like his work and his outside the box thinking.
But I don't collect sculptures or things for desks. In hindsight I am glad I did not get chosen for Desprestigio. It really does go against my sense of how I like the look of my home. Not into trinkets (for lack of a better word). I like prints on walls. I like the weirdness of Joakim Ojanen and his sculptures. While I wouldn't go for one of them in my house, he put out a print this week that I would proudly put on my wall.
Again, just like a-holes, everyone has their opinion. A magnetic letter (while fabulously made) is just not my cup of tea.

Kind of like that
'you spent 1000 pounds on a poster. An unlimited mass produced poster of soup cans!'
Or
'you spent 100 pounds guessing the weight of a motorized toy boat?!?!'
Or what about
'you spent hundreds on a a dead Snoopy stuffed animal'
Why does everyone keep calling it an envelope? Banksys peckham post card is argued as an original work. His morotized boat an original sculpture. Kaws plush's as fine art and his dolls as fine sculptures. Yet here we have a hand made folded piece of paper and everyone wants to reduce it. Your bias is showing through with comments like that. Oh and that billion dollar Leonardo. Just a burlap sack! Oh my, this piece is sure going to cause some interesting dinner conversations: -Remind me, why did you stick a 600 quid envelope to the wall? -Goddamit Marie, we've been through this, it's a SCULPTURE. Kind of like that 'you spent 1000 pounds on a poster. An unlimited mass produced poster of soup cans!' Or 'you spent 100 pounds guessing the weight of a motorized toy boat?!?!' Or what about 'you spent hundreds on a a dead Snoopy stuffed animal'

Pejac - Love Letter, by Rouen Cathedral on Dec 4, 2018 15:22:15 GMT 1, So, for anyone that doesn't like the Love Letter or can't afford it. I just found this in a dumpster this morning. Painted it. Looks pretty cool now. This will be time released tomorrow as well. Pre-orders possible to avoid the crowd. Several different sharks available. GPB 75 + shipping UK 10 / USA 25. * Needs no framing * Ready to display * Both sides can be seen - AT THE SAME TIME (Pay attention, Pejac) * You can have your signature anywhere you want - maximum of 3 * Will double in value overnight and every night, since it's not worth anything * Very affordable * Extremely cool - it might even make you a bit cool (no guarantees) ORDER NOW !
What's the structural bearing capacity of the block?

Pejac - Love Letter, by charliec2701 on Dec 4, 2018 15:40:01 GMT 1, Judging by some of the comments on here I think some people who are not really creative, have a creative job or pastime appreciate the hard work that's gone into this piece.
Have you omitted the word โdonโtโ appreciate the hard work Otherwise youโre actually praising the so called non creatives for appreciating the hard work which is unbelievably patronising regardless...
Before you insult the masses please figure out what it is youโre attempting to say.

Pejac - Love Letter, by soupy on Dec 4, 2018 15:51:23 GMT 1, had the price been lower to affordably buy 2 to display... could have made a bit more sense. just an overall odd release and not consistent with his previous works as far as a strong message/story/etc which is what is what is most appealing about his work (to many ... including myself). the tightrope image doesn't really tie in with the "love letter" title. just because they make some dramatic video with slow music and especially slow, deliberate movements doesn't make putting a stamp on an envelope any less pedestrian. certainly a let down for a timed release offering.
i can just hear the art police now... "we're collecting envelopes now?"

And perhaps as well the different emotions that play a role.
So I think it's quite fitting actually.
Okay - back to cave man mode nowโฆ.

Yes, walking a tightrope isn't a bad metaphor for love in general. You have a long way to fall without a safety net...
Ahem, unga bunga.

Putting a lot of hard work into an envelope doesn't make it great art.
