Validation for Banksy print through Pest Control, by dannubs on Jan 12, 2019 11:36:51 GMT 1, Hi all
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, I'm new to the forums and couldn't see a better section for it. I put it here with the logic that validating the print sort of counts as taking care of it but if it should be moved just let me know.
I was lucky enough to get one of the Banksy Free Palestine prints at WTM and am looking into getting it validated by pest control. Does anyone have experience with these guys and know the kind of evidence they look for?
My main concern is that the prints weren't numbered at the event. I can provide hi-res images of the print itself, a bunch of photos from the event including me in the cue getting the print, I have my ticket, a bunch of extras from the event like leaflets, postcards etc. but I'm worried the reaction will be 'ok we can see you were there and you got a print but how do we know that's THE print and not just a replica' (replicas of these are all over the place since Banksy made the JPEG free).
Also any general tips about these guys would be great, this is my first actual 'piece' so I've never dealt with them or any kind of validation before.
Cheers

Validation for Banksy print through Pest Control, by beicoblack on Jan 12, 2019 11:44:38 GMT 1, Hey dannubs,
First of all welcome to the forum. Unfortunately there is no chance to get a Pest Control COA for a poster. You can only request this service for real prints (no posters) or original works by Banksy.
Cheers B

Hi
Pest control will not validate this, it is a poster rather than an edition print.
Though You can apply here and get the official reply, it doesn't cost anything to apply. pestcontroloffice.com/
I think by having all the pics etc that you have when you collected it will, if you decide to sell show a potential purchaser that it is what it is rather than a copy or fake.
These are available via the walled off hotel in Bethlehem as well, and you get a hotel receipt and its stamped by the hotel . walledoffhotel.com/

Validation for Banksy print through Pest Control, by Lroy on Jan 12, 2019 14:29:20 GMT 1, Why to need a validation or a COA ? It’s a poster, and it will stay a poster. This one is particularly beautiful - and it’s a lot ! - with this peplum movie letter style ! I wish to get one, without validation l😂
Edit : COA is for people wanted to sale or to keep it as a value. You know where you got it, that’s great ! Some banksy posters are very asked and the Monkey Parliament , a legend and lovely one, is very rare and asked.

Carl Cashman Lroy agree with you both, with or without validation I'm still going to get it properly framed and treasure it. I thought to have the validation would have been a cool thing but no cooler than the poster itself.
Have to admit was a little gutted when the stamped versions from the Walled Off Hotel versions came out, but hey I did the WTM properly! Got a fake travel agent pass like Banksy wanted, saw the awesome sculpture (it was huge I don't think the photos did it justice), and got my poster. Can't validate that experience
