Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by Hairbland on Feb 26, 2019 18:04:09 GMT 1, Yes, the Kaws is a gift for donating $1000 to the Brooklyn Museum. Sounds like Kaws is one righteous dude. And JW was a gift for donating to political a charity he supports.. how's that different? Kaws is obviously much bigger than JR, comparing would be apples to oranges. My comment is related to what people might wish the Kaws to be, rather than what it is.

Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by touchdowntodd on Feb 26, 2019 18:10:55 GMT 1, Strategically cut meaning stamp cut in stacks with rough edges? Lol.. and a museum stamp plus a hand drawn arrow? Not a postcard, but let's not fool ourselves lol. Would you pay $5k for 1/24th of Jonas wood print? Estate basquiat? Less popular Warhol? Mind u without number or edition size, and a random section of the print (we've all seen some less than desirable cuts from these kaws already) At one point do we realize these are just a museum money grab based off unused prints which themselves are not that popular and not selling for tons over initial cost... I'm still willing to bet there are near 1000 of these Comparing JW and KAWS is silly. KAWS has a much bigger fanbase. Would folks pay 5k for a piece of a Warhol/Basquiat print that the artist intented to be cut, then stamped and signed them? I am willing to say yes collectors would pay 5k. The musuem has confirmed that there was 250 prints created for those who donated.
Not comparing fan base... Comparing pricing of pieces and "value"
And 250 my ass lol. One guy bought over 20 himself lol

Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by touchdowntodd on Feb 26, 2019 18:15:22 GMT 1, But since people can't seem to understand discussing value more than importance or talent.. or even fan base size vs relevance in 20 years let's do this
Name another artist you'd pay $8k (since that's being argued as "value" for 1/24th of a print stamp cut out with rough edges and signed........

Welcome to the world of United States bots lol. I failed to even get one, but feel free to search IG and see people that bought many...
Pre pay credit cards, multiple addresses, and instant checkout link bots.. it's not hard if you have the cash to put forward
I of course was working, and was sent the link after everyone I know bought multiple (friends names, wives names, etc)

Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by 19818914 on Feb 26, 2019 18:24:53 GMT 1, It is a bit like the Banksy postcard. Not gonna lie. But signed, and each one's "unique", so that makes a big difference.
It just gave me the vibe. Cut, thick, smaller. I do think there is a market for a small print like this from Kaws. It allows for a lot unique opportunities to display it.

Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by bjoern on Feb 26, 2019 18:33:06 GMT 1, The ebay auctions are all missleading and basically fake - no one is paying 8k for this when you get a Yellow Bob for like 12-13k. I was offered one for 3000โฌ, but first of all I need to see the final image since there is a variation in quality imo. But since it is nearly impossible nowadays to get limited editions from Kaws at 1k, everyone should be happy and frame it. Is a Yellow Bob really 12-13K now?
There was one on eBay in December for buy now and priced for 12.500โฌ. Mint condition and never framed

Kaws Brooklyn Museum Print, by teabaggins on Feb 26, 2019 19:29:00 GMT 1, One thing folks seem to be forgetting is the amount of hand finishing these prints got. Not only did they have to get strategically cut, they are also double stamped with unique images and signed. More hand finishing work went into these than the majority of pubicly released KAWS artwork. Calling them a mass produced postcard is silly. Sorry... hand finished? What?

HF would be a stretch, but he did state that he didn't just randomly cut circles. He said they were portions of his favorite parts of these prints. So the cuts were conscientious, as were the drawn arrows as how he saw fit to display and orientation, with a couple stamps and a signature.

Sorry, the better term is handmade. From KAWS:
Each print is 8" in diameter, unframed, handmade and unique and may vary.

To all these people claiming they have been able to buy at 2.5-3.5k, where? Sales never disclosed to the public can hardly count towards what market value would be. I have 5 Offers between 5000 and 6500 USD.
If you're finding deals outside of public offering, not available to the rest of the general public, you've simply gotten lucky.
And to those saying KAWS never intended for these to compete in his market, he wouldn't have signed and dated them. He would have just sold them as pieces of prints that he had no artistic say and would have most likely never have touched them personally or added additional measures like stamps and arrows that clearly add greater provenance.

In my opinion this is how I see the difference in the two:
Handmade means that a human constructed the artwork from initiation to completion.
Handfinished means that a human added finishing touches to the artwork.
