Louis Masai New print Seahorses , by Bill Hicks on Feb 7, 2019 11:52:44 GMT 1, Seahorses; an almost mythological creature that really does exist. The patchwork toy style print series “We’re stuffed” depicts yet another vulnerable and endangered species. In 2017, Justin Hoffman, a finalist in the journalist Wildlife photographer of the year award snapped a photo of a seahorse clinging onto an ear bud (Q-tip) near the Sumbara Islands, in Indonesia. Seahorses often hold onto sea debris in rough waters with their tails to ride the currents.
These oceans are now so polluted, that some seahorses cling on to plastic waste! The image stuck in my mind so I wanted to use it as a point of conversation with this latest print edition.
The sales of, “Clutching at straws” will be donated to ‘Project Seahorse’ in conjunction to ‘Net-Works’, a Philippine marine protection organisation. The sales of these prints will support a marine protected area of seahorses on an island called Guindacpan. Net-works states that the Philippines is the 3rd highest country in the world with plastic entering the ocean. Their mission is simple: More fish, less plastic. If you want to find out more about their work here is some links: - Net-Works is on Twitter @fishnotplastic - www.net-works.com- Project Seahorse is on Instagram and Twitter @projectseahorse www.projectseahorse.org And if this story has caught your attention – how about switching up your plastic toothbrush to a bamboo one, or your plastic Q-tip to an alternative version like the ones we have sent out with every print sold.

Louis Masai New print Seahorses , by Schrödinger's Chat on Feb 7, 2019 19:07:22 GMT 1, I think the straw looks better than the cotton bud/q-tip, it's just looks a bit small compared to the seahorses. The spotty straw particularly.
