Best knife for cutting stencils, by Icesay on Mar 3, 2019 18:48:09 GMT 1, Hi Folks....after just breaking the tip off another crappy blade I'm losing it! Can anyone recommend a great stencil cutting knife and blade? I hear x-acto are good but want to get another sharpish! Any help greatly appreciated.

Best knife for cutting stencils, by Fake on Mar 3, 2019 19:34:30 GMT 1, I use X-acto #11 ... but the tip always brakes at some point. (pun intended) They are pretty expensive about 0,50 euro cent per blade if you buy in bulk or 1 euro per blade in smaller amounts.
I have bought fake Aliexpress blades that should fit the x-acto Nr 11 and I am still waiting for them to arrive.
I think the surgical blades will not brake but the holder sucks and the curve is also not something you want.
Good luck!

Its a nightmare....trying to cut some fairly simple stencils and it shouldn't be so hard to get a decent blade. Was thinking x-acto number 4....swivel blade. Will check the Aliexpress blades though. I was thinking an actual scalpel might cut it. Dr Icesay...I like the sound of that! Mind you I wouldn't want to be operated on by me at this moment.๐ผ๐ผ

Best knife for cutting stencils, by pada1 on Mar 4, 2019 9:41:38 GMT 1, Is it for cutting cardboard or more dirable stencils such as mylar? I found very difficult to cut through mylar (as thick as a transparent folder) with x-acto, especially to free hand curves.

Haven't used them before...just bought a slimline one to try it out. Will update how I get on. Thanks for the tip!

Best knife for cutting stencils, by Icesay on Mar 5, 2019 19:50:28 GMT 1, The Olfa blades are awesome compared to the knife I was using! Like a hot knife through butter! I feel a bit of a p*ick for not changing sooner!
